Mom begs plane crew to open door after baby ‘passes out’

Distressing footage shows a desperate mother screaming at cabin crew to open the plane’s door after her baby allegedly passed out from the heat.

The woman was heard pleading for help when her child got into breathing difficulties on board the Pakistan International Airlines flight from Paris to Islamabad.

According to Geo News, the aircraft, which had been delayed on the tarmac for two hours last Friday, had faulty air conditioning.

Passengers were reportedly forced to remain on board the sweltering plane for more than two hours before finally taking off, while staff reportedly guarded the door and refused to open it to allow ventilation.

The hysterical mother was seen fanning the baby to try and cool it down as she yelled at flight attendants for several minutes.

Several other people then surrounded staff to demand the door was opened, chanting “shame,” reports Pakistani news outlet Dawn.

The airline insisted the flight was only delayed for 30 minutes while the pilot waited for clearance to depart from Air Traffic Control.

Following the incident, the company’s president, Musharraf Rasool Cyan, today ordered a “detailed inquiry” into what happened.

Filmed by another passenger, the video was posted on social media today and has gone viral with more than 100,000 views.

It shows the woman berating two male staff members while a man stands beside her holding the baby.

The child appears to be frothing slightly at the mouth and struggling to keep its eyes open.

A crowd of angry passengers surrounds the flight attendants as they apologize profusely and try their best to calm them down.

One of the men calls for instructions on the phone but the crowd becomes more irate when he apparently tells them he cannot open the door.

The mother picks up the baby and fans the child with a sheet of paper while continuing to shout for help.

Another small child being held by a parent is seen looking up at the camera and appears to be in some discomfort due to the stifling heat.

The mother eventually gives up and returns to her seat with the baby as other customers continue to argue in vain with the staff.

It is unclear whether the flight took off.

But the social media account which posted the video clip said the baby was unharmed.

In a statement released on Facebook, the nation’s flagship airline said: “PIA has taken serious notice of the unfortunate incident that took place on PK750.

“The president and CEO Dr Musharraf Rasool Cyan has taken immediate and serious notice and has asked for a detailed inquiry into the matter.

“The delay was for 30 minutes as doors were closed, aircraft was ready for push back.

“However, Air Traffic Controller clearance was not received and the aircraft could not start its engine as the aircraft was still parked at the jetty.

“Details of the incident and explanations are being given to the Captain in Command, the ground handler and PIA’s chief operating officer.

“Zero tolerance policy has been adopted in PIA and there shall be no compromise on customer convenience and comfort.”
