Chilling moment blade brawl breaks out as ‘two attackers wielding Zombie-style knives launch at man in the middle of upmarket Dulwich street’

The harrowing moment knifemen were spotted wielding Zombie-style blades around in a two versus one brawl in an affluent part of south London has been captured on camera. 

The frightening footage, believed to be in leafy Dulwich, shows the nighttime fight between three people beneath the street lights.

All three appear to be young men and are wearing dark clothing and can be heard shouting at each other. 

In the short video, two can be seen brandishing and swinging Zombie-style knives around in the middle of the unknown road while the third male starts throwing punches.

At one point one of the men tries to slash his foe, narrowly missing his head.

A fourth male wearing a grey top and bottoms appears to try and help his friend before they scuttle away.

The footage headlined ‘2v1 knife fight in south London’ was posted on Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook with many reacting in horror. 

One person wrote: ‘I fear for my grandsons growing up in these times we need to leave London asap! Which we will be next spring or just the country totally! Scary future for our boys.’

While another was left ‘utterly terrified’ by the footage. She wrote: ‘All these young people trying to kill each other. Utterly terrifying that it has become so normal to carry a knife. 

‘Why are the parents and families not teaching their young people that this is unacceptable?

‘The council and schools can’t do it alone.’

Why a third raised fears that parents ‘have no control over their children any more’. 

‘Sadly society is broken,’ she wrote. ‘Parents have no control over their children/young adults anymore.

‘These kids carry knives now for defence and honour. It’s very scary to think this is how life is for these kids now. 

‘If you speak to the kids they will say they don’t want to carry these items but feel they have no choice. I wish there was something we could do, but sadly I feel it’s to late.’

While someone on Instagram called the three men ‘cowards’ and ‘pathetic’.

Dulwich, in the borough of Southwark, is known for its leafy surroundings, mansion homes, and where A-listers such as Tom Cruise have once called home.

Homes in the affluent area sold for an average of £722,674 in the last year, according to Rightmove. 

There were 12,786 knife offences in London in the 12 months to the end of March this year, according to the Office for National Statistics. This is a 16 percent on the 11,031 recorded for the same time last year.

As of May this year, 151 teenagers have been murdered since Sadiq Khan’s first became Mayor of London seven years ago. 

Mr Khan took office at City Hall on May 9, 2016. Student Matthew Kitandwe, 18, who had represented Uganda at football at youth level, became the first teenager to be murdered in London following Khan’s election when he stabbed to death in Battersea, south London, on June 21 that year.

The Labour Mayor has insisted that tackling violent crime remains his ‘number one priority’. 

In a previous statement in May he said: ‘I am devastated for the families and friends of those in our city who have lost their lives to senseless violence.

‘Every death leaves lives destroyed, communities hurting and families heartbroken.

‘Bearing down on violent crime and making our city safe for everyone is my number one priority as Mayor.

‘Violent crime, including knife crime, has been falling in London, bucking the national trend, but one death is one too many and I’m determined to continue being both tough on crime and tough on the complex causes of crime.’

Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan has insisted that tackling violent crime remains his ‘number one priority’ and that Londoners are ‘safe’ on the capital’s streets

He added: ‘I am in regular contact with the Commissioner and extra patrols are in Walthamstow and Dagenham where these awful crimes occurred to reassure the local community and progress the investigations.

‘I urge those with information to come forward and call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online. There is no honour in staying silent.’

While in July, Mr Khan insisted London’s streets were ‘safe’ in the wake of a spate of stabbings which included 15-year-old boy – Leonardo Reid – and a 23-year-old man being stabbed to death after an attack in Islington, reported MyLondon.

‘Yeah, they [Londoners] are safe,’ he said. ‘But, we’ve got to recognise there’s a small minority of people who want to cause damage.’
