A violent brawl between two teenagers from upstate New York has been caught on camera showing a 17-year-old student stabbing his 18-year-old classmate in the hand and back before being stopped by teachers.

The vicious attack took place at Proctor High School Utica on Monday and was filmed by onlookers and posted on social media.

The footage shows the student running toward his classmate in the hallway of their school before he is seen lunging at him and the man quickly retaliates, slamming his rival against a wall.

The 18-year-old can be seen throwing a series of punches into the 17-year-old who is then brought to the ground and pummeled in the head.

The attacker appears to be carrying something in his hand while the victim is heard repeatedly yelling that his attacker has a knife.

‘He got a knife, he got a knife,’ the teen can be heard yelling in desperation as his attacker grips him from behind. ‘You, can see that right? He got a knife.’

A crowd can then be seen starting to form around the pair who continue to tussle. 

Members of the crowd can be heard pleading with the young attacker to ‘drop the knife’.

The 17-year-old student is seen continuing to brandish an object, later confirmed to be a knife, in a stabbing motion. 

He can be seen ignoring the pleas to stop the attack, before a female is seen entering the frame and trying to help.

‘He got a knife,’ members of the crowd can be heard repeating.

A male staff member can be seen approaching the pair before retrieving the knife from the attacker. ‘Are you out of your mind,’ said the male staff member.

‘He just stabbed the sh*t out of my hands,’ the 18-year-old student can be heard telling the male staffer.

The male staff member calls out to another staff member to come help in the fight telling his colleague that he now has the knife in his hand.

Utica Police Department and Utica City School District released a joint statement about the altercation to social media.

‘The teachers took immediate action, without regard for their safety, and attempted to separate the two parties,’ read the post.

‘The teachers grabbed the suspect and forcibly disarmed him, and held him until security staff arrived.’

Authorities said that the suspect was immediately removed from the scene and taken to a secure area.

The 18-year-old victim who suffered multiple stab wounds to his back and hands was given aid by school nursing staff before being taken to hospital. Police said that the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Following an investigation, police said the 17-year-old has been charged with attempted first-degree assault, a class C felony, and fourth-degree possession of a weapon, according to the Daily Sentinel.

He will answer to his charges in Oneida County Family Court. The Utica Police Department said they will have an increased presence both within the school building and outside.

‘For the remainder of the week, the Proctor High School campus will remain closed,’ police said.

‘Students will not be allowed to exit the building during free periods and for lunch. This process will be re-evaluated next week.’

Students were also advised to get in touch with school officials if they felt traumatized by the event.
