AN OBSESSED driving instructor who stalked his former pupil and turned up "rocking and crying" outside her university halls has finally been jailed.

Graham Mansie met Maisie Relph when she was just 17-years-old when she began driving lessons with him.

The deranged Mansie created a TikTok account called 'For Maisie' with the words "my favourite" in the biography section as well as sending his victim and her friends expensive gifts.

He was jailed for 20 months after breaching his restraining order that banned him from contacting Maisie.

Speaking at York Crown Court after the sentence, brave Maisie said: "I have intense therapy. My mental health has been affected, so has my physical health.

"I have been diagnosed with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) due to his actions and I think about it every day. I am extremely scared about getting in a car and don't think I will be able to pass my driving test.

"I am experiencing large amounts of anxiety. I thought things couldn't get any worse but breaching the order nine days after the sentencing has me wondering whether this will end ever.

"It hasn't just affected me. My flatmates' parents are extremely concerned for their safety. It has affected myself, my flatmates and their families. Their mental health has also suffered.

"He is clearly obsessed. He broke the restraining order just nine days after it was made. Potentially, somebody could have been seriously injured. I'm gobsmacked how he drove over 200 miles just to get to me."

When the defendant was told by Maisie's mother to stay away from her daughter in May last year, the desperate stalker began continuously sending gifts to his victim and her friends.

In addition, he claimed he loved his former pupil and admitted to spending hundreds on the dark web in order to hack into her social media accounts.

He joined WhatsApp groups for her halls of residence at university and set up fake social media accounts to follow her, such as a decoy profile for an 18-year-old boy called Ben Williams.

Mansie was later arrested and admitted his charge of stalking, for which he was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for a year.

The delusional driving instructor was also ordered to attend the Stalking Threat Assessment Centre for treatment.

A restraining order was granted but just nine days later he travelled a shocking 200 miles to turn up at her university accommodation.

Prosecutor Giles Bridge told York Crown Court: "Matters came to light when one of her flatmates was returning to their accommodation at 11.20pm and noticed he was sat under a tree.

"He looked out of place because of the day of day and his demeanour. She was concerned and made sure the door was pulled to and locked.

"She was aware of the defendant and the previous stalking so she went to see another flatmate."

Police were called and the stalker was found "rocking and crying" with superficial cuts on his wrists and a Stanley knife as well as other blades in his possession.

Judge Simon Hickey sentenced Mansie to 20 months for breaching the restraining order against him and his suspended sentence.

A rare indefinite restraining order was also granted by the judge, as he told the defendant: "Given your personality traits it is needed."
