Naked and Afraid contestant Melanie Rauscher was found dead while dog sitting at a home in Arizona.

The homeowners found Rauscher, 35, dead on a bed in the guest room on July 17 next to several cans of dust cleaner.

Police say there were no signs of foul play and the dog was unharmed.

Rauscher was a contestant on the Discovery Channel survival series in 2017, as well as its spinoff show XL in 2018.

Her castmate Jeremy McCaa said he is ‘feeling broken’ by the loss of his close friend who was a ‘strong woman’ and ‘amazing person.’

Rauscher had been staying at the Prescott home and caring for the owners’ dog while they were away on vacation. 

They found her found her body after they returned from their trip last Sunday afternoon. It is unclear exactly when she died. 

Police were also unsure if the reality TV star had consumed the compressed air, noting they did not find a suicide note or any drug paraphernalia in the home.

Prescott Police Department spokesperson Corey Kasun told TMZ the Yavapai County Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy to determine her cause of death.

Neither police nor the coroner immediately responded to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

McCaa, who appeared alongside Rauscher in the seventh season of Naked and Afraid, posted a heartfelt tribute to his friend last Tuesday, describing how their relationship ‘blossomed’ from costars to friends.

‘She came into my life in a way I can’t explain,’ he wrote. ‘We had such a chemistry on the show and it blossomed into a friendship that goes beyond words could describe.’

The survivalist said he regarded Rauscher as ‘family’ and knew he ‘could always count on her.’

‘We had so many moments when we would just be there for each other,’ he said. ‘She was my swamp wife, a best friend, a strong woman, an amazing person and I’ll always cherish our moments together.’ 

‘Her laughter was one of a kind. Her friendship was amazing.’

McCaa then spoke directly to Rauscher saying: ‘You’re gone to soon and taken from us to early. You’ll always be my Mel. I love you and I’ll see you again one day. The world lost an amazing person.’

He asked his followers to pray for her loved ones before concluding: ‘See you again my Queen.’

On Wednesday, McCaa posted another tribute, sharing videos of a time she caught a fish at an apparent campground or hiking area.

‘We was always in a competition,’ McCaa captioned the clip. ‘Mel was saying for me to get my a** down there so she could take a pic with her and the fish she just caught. Gio was telling her to put back in the water so it could breathe. 

‘I was b****ing about something and she’s telling us to pipe it down back there.’

Despite rumors the pair were romantically involved, McCaa and Rauscher appear to have just been very close friends.

According to his public Facebook page, McCaa is currently in a relationship with a woman named Chrissy who lives in the same Louisiana town as him. It is unclear when he and Chrissy originally linked up.
