A police press conference about missing mum-of-two Nicola Bulley has been branded an "utter disaster", whilst the chief copper has been labelled a "bull in a china shop".
This morning (February 15) Assistant Chief Constable Peter Lawson of Lancashire Constabulary and Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith went over the investigation in an attempt to dial down speculation around the case.
They said their main hypothesis was that Nicola Bulley had fallen in the river, but that they were still investigating other possibilities.

Among several other revelations, the police also slammed amateur detectives on social media, who have "significantly distracted" investigating officers. The speculation is also "hurtful" to the family, they said.
However, their comments were not well-received. Writing on Twitter, people branded the police "defensive", "smug" and even "aggressive".
"That press conference was an utter disaster. SIO [Senior Investigating Officer] laughing and smirking throughout. Blaming public speculation whilst only creating even more questions," said a lady called Tiffany.
Sarah added: "#NicolaBulley not impressed with the defensive nature of the #SIO"
"Press conference. did not cover Willow being tied up. Clearly dug their heels in re the river #sheisnotintheriver. Never witnessed such a bad attitude on tv in my life," she added furthermore.

And Joe Rojek-Smith had an even more damning indictment, writing: "So they’ve replaced 'Rabbit in the headlights' Sally Riley with 'Bull in a china shop' Rebecca Smith…
"And yet, same press conference as last week, just angrier. Almost smug. 20 days in. Absolute jokers."
"This police women has a chip on her shoulder and seems very aggressive rather than assertive. Hm very strange behaviour with how the police are responding," added another woman.
The search continues for Nicola, 20 days on from her disappearance. According to Lancashire Police, more than 40 detectives are investigating the case.
Despite all the speculation, the evidence continues to indicate that Nicola Bulley fell in the river. The police said they would remain open minded to other theories.
