‘Jimmy Tarbuck was driving like a madman!’: New footage shows hit-and-run comic smashing into SECOND car as owner says star ‘got off very lightly’ and reveals she had to fork out £7,000 on repairs

A carer whose car was destroyed in a crash by Jimmy Tarbuck has accused the comedian of driving ‘like a madman’.

The Liverpool comic smashed into Iris Moulton’s blue Corsa Elegance last May while driving his two-litre Lexus on Coombe Gardens, New Malden, near Tarbuck’s £5.5million home, as he hit several vehicles parked in one of south-west London’s most exclusive neighborhoods.

Before dragging along Mrs Moulton’s Corsa, dramatic CCTV footage showed two wheels of the 83-year-old’s motor lift off the road and roll over a black car, before returning to the road.

Another empty vehicle was shunted forward by the impact of Tarbuck’s careless driving, sending the stationary car a couple of meters down the kerb to stop just in front of a large tree.

The entertainer was caught on camera driving his car away from the scene – leaving the wreckage behind him.

Following the collision with the parked Corsa, Tarbuck was continued driving away from the scene

The entertainer was caught on camera  leaving the wreckage behind him after ‘driving like a madman’ and hitting several parked cars in the south London neighbourhood

Mrs Moulton, who looks after her MS-stricken husband Reginald, told the Mail: ‘The fact he did not stop is appalling. I thought possibly his licence would be taken away.

‘One neighbour said he was driving like a mad person and when he hit the next car at the top of the road he nearly flipped over

‘I was just glad I was not sitting in my car because I might not be here.’

Mrs Moulton added that Mr Tarbuck has not been in touch since the crash outside her home on Coombe Gardens, New Malden, south London.

The retired shorthand typist was forced to pay £7,000 from her savings to buy and insure a new car after the incident.

Mrs Moulton said Tarbuck, who was given five points but not banned from driving, ‘had got off very lightly’.

She added: ‘The result of the court hearing is nice for Mr Tarbuck, but I have been pushed to one side.

‘I am the victim and I have had to go into my savings to buy a new car. Obviously, he had no thoughts about what had occurred and whether anybody was injured.

‘It caused me a lot of stress because I look after my husband and I used the car to get around to the shops and for social occasions.’

Mrs Moulton was busy at the back of her house when a neighbour from across the street knocked on her door to tell her what had happened.

Mr Tarbuck did not appear before Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to the offences by post.

Prosecutor Laura-Ann Harding told the court the incident occurred at approximately 3.30pm: ‘The defendant drove a vehicle without due care and attention.

‘They collided heavily into stationary vehicles, causing severe damage and at the same time an accident occurred with another vehicle, a Vauxhall Corsa and they failed to stop when required and give their name and address.

‘Multiple vehicles were hit and one was shunted forward three houses. Nobody was injured as all the vehicles were parked and empty at the time.’

The magistrates were played footage from the Ring doorbell, which showed Tarbuck slowly dragging along the Vauxhall Corsa beside his car and then continuing away from the scene.

Tarbuck, who lives in a £5.5 million house on nearby Coombe Park, did not attend court at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ on Tuesday but admitted driving without due care, failing to stop after an accident and not reporting the car crash in a letter.

He told the court his sister had died several days before and that he could not explain why he did not stop at the scene.

Additionally to his licence being endorsed he was fined £716, with £110 costs and ordered to pay a £286 victim surcharge.

Tarbuck’s 60-year career in showbusiness includes hosting ‘Sunday Night at the London Palladium’ and television programmes such as ‘Winner Takes All’.
