A self-proclaimed ‘disgusting’ paedophile who sexually abused 13 children as young as one month old while posing as a babysitter was today jailed for 14 years in Germany.
Marcus R., 45, drugged the young girls and boys inside their homes before sexually abusing them as they screamed in pain, the district court of Cologne heard.
The married computer specialist would film himself abusing the young children and share them on chat rooms with other paedophiles over a period of 14 years. Investigators said they needed 17 days to copy the data from his computer due to the sheer volume of horrific videos and images.
Today, Marcus R., was sentenced to 14 years and six months in prison for his ‘sadistic’ crimes. The IT expert appeared in court covering his face with a piece of paper.
‘Behind a bourgeois facade there was a dark side,’ Judge Christoph Kaufmann said of Marcus R. according to Bild.

Between 2005 and 2019, Marcus R., from Wermelskirchen, abused 13 children. The public prosecutor said he committed 124 crimes against the youngsters, the youngest being a girl who was just a month old.
Marcus R., who posed as a trustworthy babysitter, would sexually abuse the children while their parents went to work or went out with friends.
Among those he abused were the two young sons of a police officer. In 2007, Beate M. – not her real name – hired Marcus R. to look after her children, who were then aged two and four, after several supervised play dates.
Marcus R. would visit the family home every month while Beate M. went to work. During those hours alone, he would drug the boys before sexually abusing them and torturing them with sex toys he had brought in his bag, reports Die Welt newspaper.

Marcus R., who has described his behaviour as ‘disgusting’ during his trial, was arrested by police officers in December 2021 at his family home.
Beate M. was told by police officers that Marcus R. had sexually abused her children while he had been their babysitter.
A police officer told Beate M. that her youngest son had whimpered in pain in one of the videos.
‘I haven’t seen the films to this day and I won’t,’ Beate M. told Die Welt. ‘But I keep thinking about that whimper he told me about.’

Beate M says that her children do not remember the abuse that they suffered – in part due to the trauma, but also due to the drugs they were plied with by Marcus R. ‘They didn’t know, they don’t need to know now,’ she said.
During the trial, the court heard how Marcus R. told other paedophiles that he found the children’s ‘whining and resistance’ stimulating. Investigators said they discovered he he had written 30,957 messages to other abusers under four different names on an online chat.
German politician Herbert Reul, an Interior Minister for the North Rhine-Westphalia region, told Bild: ‘I am relieved that this criminal and tormentor of so many innocent children is now behind bars for many years.
Every victim who is freed, every perpetrator who is punished, gives us additional motivation to track down child molesters and to invest in human resources and technology for this important work.’
