Pervert, 36, asked ’13-year-old girl’ about size of her breasts on teen site

A pervert IT worker told who he thought was a child that "she would love his hands insider her underwear."

While posing as a 13-year-old girl on a teenage dating website, police received sexual messages from Adam Drane, 36.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard how under the name of 'LiamUK19' Drane claimed he was a 19-year-old student and sent the girl a string of "disgusting" messages.

Prosecutor Andrew Baker said: "The defendant indicated he was 19 and was a student from Derby who was studying sports science and was in bed.

"He asked about Molly's previous relationship and whether she was a virgin. He asked about the size of her breasts. He said he preferred small breasts and he preferred pubic hair. He asked if she watched pornography.

"He said he wished she could touch his private area. He said she would love his hands inside her underwear."

Now Drane, 36, has been fined £5,000 and handed a two-year community order, Stoke-on-Trent Live reports.

An undercover police officer created the fake account of 'Molly' on January 7, 2019 and the IT worker started a chat.

Drane was arrested at his home address in Stoke-on-Trent on July 12, 2019 and pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Stephen Lee, mitigating, said the defendant had no previous convictions and his offending is a matter of 'enormous shame' to him and his family.

Mr Lee said: "He has made a huge effort to try and rehabilitate himself. He has engaged with the Lucy Faithfull Foundation and has had in excess of 50 sessions with a psychosexual therapist."

He said the defendant's partner has stood by him and she attended a course with the Lucy Faithfull Foundation aimed at the partners of offenders.

He said Drane would lose his highly paid job in the IT industry if he was sent to prison.

Mr Lee added: "Should he retain his liberty his intention is to move back to the Stoke-on-Trent area to live with his partner."

Drane, whose address was given as Watering Road, Suffolk, must complete a rehabilitation activity requirement for 40 days.

Judge Paul Glenn said: "You went on a dating site for teenagers. Unknown to you, you were communicating not with a 13-year-old girl, but with a police officer. Your comments were disgusting.

"You are an intelligent man. You have a supportive partner. You are extremely fortunate that she has remained supportive. She has gone on courses herself which is over and beyond the call of duty.

"You have used the delay in a very purposeful way and have taken significant steps to address your offending behaviour.

"I accept you are ashamed and remorseful. The risk of you re-offending is now very low. I do not think you could have done more than you have done since this offending to try to ensure that you do not re-offend."

Drane, who was ordered to pay £360 costs, was placed on the sex offenders' register for five years and was barred from a range of activities involving children and vulnerable adults.
