Police car smashes into motorist during high-speed chase leaving three hurt

Dramatic CCTV captures a police car career into a motorist during a high-speed chase .

Two police officers and the driver of the silver Hyundai suffered injuries in the crash.

The police car was pursuing a black Hyundai Coupe in Cleethorpes, Lincs., at around 12.30pm today, Grimsby Live says.

But the footage shows it spin out of control after the shunt and, off camera, it collided into a number of parked cars.

It is understood a male officer was driving, with a female passenger, but their injuries are minor.

"A black coupe failed to stop when requested by officers in a marked police car on Harold Street just before 12.30pm.

"A couple of minutes later, a collision occurred with the police car and a silver Hyundai Coupe, travelling along Brereton Avenue at the junction on Barcroft Street," said Humberside Police chief superintendent Darren Downs.

He added: "The driver of the Hyundai, a 63-year-old man, is reported to have suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene but also taken to hospital to be checked over.

"Two police officers also sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. The incident will now be fully and comprehensively investigated to understand and ascertain the exact circumstances.

"We are aware of the CCTV that is circulating on social media and this will form part of the investigation.

"We would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision, to please come forward by calling 101 and quoting incident number 225 of 25 September 2018."
