Authorities know the name of one of three people found last month in the San Luis Valley after they received help from a dentist who specializes in using teeth to identify unknown remains.
One set of human remains recovered in November in Conejos County belongs to 38-year-old Myron Robert Martinez of Del Norte, according to a Colorado Bureau of Investigation news release. Martinez was reported missing to the Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 6 after a family member told police that they had not been in contact with him since late October.
Investigators contacted the Martinez family to notify them of this death. The cause and manner of death has not been determined, but investigators suspect foul play, the news release said. They continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
On Nov. 17, Colorado law enforcement announced the discovery of three human bodies on two sites near Las Sauses in Conejos County. Two days later, authorities arrested Adre “Psycho” Baroz in New Mexico in connection with the remains. Baroz is being held in the Alamosa County Jail on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree kidnapping. He has not been charged in the death of Martinez, the CBI news release stated. Baroz’s arrest warrant is sealed.
The Rio Grande Sheriff’s Office has joined the task force investigating this incident.
Investigators continue to work to identify the other two people whose bodies were discovered in Conejos County. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call a designated tip line at (719) 270-0210. There have been more than 60 tips reported since last month.
