Home buyers might want to have a punt on a semi-detached fixer-upper in the capital of the horse racing world that could be worth £1million after being done up.
The seven bed home, in Newmarket, West Suffolk, named Eastcote has gone up for sale for the first time in 50 years for £525,000.
The house is in need of complete refurbishment, as it is covered in ivy and even has a tree growing through the utility room.
Experts say it would be worth double its guide price once it’s been refurbished.
Property website Zoopla shows that similarly sized properties (but not in dire need of a fresh coat of paint among other repairs) on the same road can be worth from £850,000 to upwards of a million pounds.
Estate agents Cheffins are only looking for cash buyers due to the amount of work needed.

The interior of the property hasn’t been touched since the 1960s – its wallpaper peeling off, the floorboards are bare and the kitchen units and bathroom suites are, to put it mildly, dated.
The property has over 3,000 sq ft of accommodation with an entrance hall, kitchen/breakfast room, dining room, drawing room, living room and conservatory on the ground floor and a basement below.
There’s five bedrooms and a family bathroom on the first floor and two further bedrooms on the top floor.

It also comes with a stable block which could be turned into an annexe or separate property with planning permission.

The road the house is on is a hugely sought after address in the town, with a number of major stables built along it in the 19th and 20th centuries.
It is home to some of the UK’s largest and most famous racing establishments, including Godolphin Stables, founded by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Freemason Lodge Stables and Clarehaven Stables.

‘It is in such a state of disrepair that there’s a tree growing through the utility room.
‘But we have had 20 viewings already – these Victorian villas don’t come on the market very often and Bury Road is the most sought after road in Newmarket.
‘It hasn’t been touched for about 40 years so the property still has a lot of the original features like cast iron fireplaces, ceiling roses and picture rails.’

‘There is also a stable block at the end of the garden which could be converted. Another stable block further down the road was converted into a one-bed cottage.
‘It would need planning and change of use but that could be sold for £285,000 so that is exciting for buyers too.

‘We’ve already got four offers over the guide price so we’re going to best and final offers by the first week in September.’
