Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary is set to pocket €100m bonus after budget airline’s shares hit record high
Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary is reportedly set to pocket a €100m bonus after the budget airline’s shares reached a record high.
In the airline’s most recent financial year, O’Leary was paid €925,000 but also owns 3.9 per cent of the company at a market value of €907m, according to reports.
Ryanair’s shares hit €18.99 on Friday – taking their gains to more than 50 per cent.
The boss is reportedly able to earn share options worth around €100m if Ryanair achieves a €21 share price for 28 days, or if the company makes €2.2bn in yearly profits after tax.
For the financial year until March, Ryanair has predicted post-tax profit to be between €1.85bn to €2.05bn.
O’Leary previously told the Financial Times: ‘As long as we don’t do something stupid – which is a daily challenge in this industry – we will continue to wipe the floor with every other airline in Europe.’

In September O’Leary was splattered in the face with a pair of cream pies by eco-activists as he prepared to speak to the media in Brussels earlier today.
O’Leary, 62, was in the Belgian capital to speak at a press conference and deliver a petition to protect overflights in Europe amid the news Ryanair pilots based in Belgium had called a strike.
He was delivering an interview – alongside a cardboard cut-out of European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen – when a black-clad woman ran up and smashed the pie into his face.

O’Leary reeled away and ducked his head down to avoid a potential blow – giving a second woman the opportunity to run up behind him and deliver a second spatter of cream down the back of his neck.
‘Welcome to Belgium!’, the activists cheered as they ran off, before O’Leary sportingly replied: ‘Well done!’
The ordeal didn’t appear to trouble the Ryanair boss too much. Speaking to media after the incident, he jokingly declared: ‘I have never had such a warm welcome.
‘Unfortunately it was environmentalists and the cream was artificial. I invite passengers to come to Ireland where the cream is better!’
