Shocking moment driver is catapulted from his car after M23 smash – but walks away with minor scratches

THIS is the jaw dropping moment a car collided with the central reservation, hurling the driver onto the M23 – but he walked away with minor scratches.

Saqib Ali’s Smart car span across the northbound carriageway five times before coming to a halt after a rear tyre blew out.

The 22-year-old, from Crawley, was thrown from the driver's seat onto the road – but walked away with "minor injuries and a few stitches to his face".

The shocking footage taken on Friday January 6, shows Mr Ali lying in the road and was captured by a lorry driver and sent to the HGV Dash Cam Footage Facebook page.

Mr Ali said it was shocking to see the footage – taken near Gatwick airport – but wanted it to be shared for his "piece of mind".

Haunting final text from British grandad, 68, he sent just one hour before dying in tragic car crash on holiday in Thailand

He said: “When I did watch the video, it shocked me, especially seeing myself lying on the floor after.

"I see it all as a reminder that tomorrow isn't promised and that life is not guaranteed so make the most of it."

Speaking about the incident itself, he said: "Everything went slow and I can remember thinking I am going to flip onto the other side and clash with oncoming traffic."

"All I did was read an Islamic prayer and then blacked out.

"I don't feel like I've beaten death as I believe Allah has already decided when our time is up, and it wasn't my time but in fact a reminder to knuckle down on things that matter.

"I don't remember whether I was wearing my seat belt or not I only remember driving straight and then facing towards the central reservation."

As the footage shows, Mr Ali span out five times back into the northbound carriageway. Luckily no other cars were involved in the incident.

At the time of the incident, a spokesman for Sussex Police said: "The driver was believed to have sustained serious injuries but after initially being alerted to attend the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance was stood down."
