A teenage driver was seriously hurt after smashing his SUV into a tree on Staten Island, police said.
Police were called to the scene of an overturned car near the intersection of Drumoogle Road and Arden Avenue around 6 am Saturday, where they found a mangled Infinity SUV and four injured people.
Authorities said Saturday the 19-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle before striking a tree and fence.
A section of the fence was entwined in the wreckage, according to photos that show the roof of the shredded vehicle resting on a tree trunk as investigators surveyed the damage.
The driver and his three passengers, none of whom have been identified, were taken to Staten Island University Hospital North, police said.
The driver is in serious condition.
