Two Brits are deported from Colombia and banned from returning for 10 years after joking they had a BOMB in their luggage
- Migration officials said they had caused hundreds of other travellers problems
- Mubin Adbul and Patel Ravin Jagdish triggered the police to use sniffer dogs
Two British men have been deported from Colombia and banned from returning for ten years after they joked about carrying a bomb in their luggage.
Migration officials said the Brits had caused hundreds of other travellers problems after delaying their flights with their stupidity.
The offenders were named as Mubin Adbul and Patel Ravin Jagdish in an official statement confirming their deportation.
The pair are said to have sparked flight chaos at El Dorado International Airport, an international airport serving the Colombian capital Bogota and surrounding areas, as they checked in with an airline called Wings at 1pm local time yesterday.
The police operation was triggered by the joke which resulted in a sniffer dog being brought in and led to flights being affected before the all-clear was sounded.

A spokesman for Migracion Colombia, the country’s national migration agency, said in a statement this afternoon: ‘For having put the operational safety of the El Dorado Airport at risk, generating delays in air operations and harming hundreds of travellers, Migration Colombia expelled British travellers Mubin Abdul and Patel Ravin Jagdish last night.
‘The measure was due to the situation that the foreigners generated yesterday at 1pm while checking in at the Wingo airline counter.
‘When asked by the agent on duty if they were carrying items that were not allowed in their checked luggage, one of them responded that he was carrying a bomb while smiling with his travelling companion.
‘What for them was a joke, for the airport concessionaire and the National Police was a potential threat, so they activated their security protocols, checked all the luggage on that flight with anti-explosive canine biosensors and did a special check on the plane.
‘This affected air operations and caused flight delays that harmed hundreds of travellers.
‘Once the threat was dismissed, the National Police placed the two foreigners at the disposal of Migration Colombia, who expelled them last night through an administrative resolution, based on article 2.2.1.13.2.2 of Decree 1067 of May 26, 2015, which empowers it to to adopt these decisions.
‘When in its opinion it identifies people who ‘carry out activities that threaten national security, public order… social tranquillity, public safety or when there is intelligence information that indicates that they represent a risk to national security, public order, public safety or social tranquillity…’
‘The measure prohibits foreigners from entering Colombian territory for 10 years after leaving the country. There are no appeals against this decision.’
