Two NYPD officers shot in Queens, sources say

Two NYPD officers were ambushed and shot while responding to a domestic dispute in Queens on Tuesday, police sources told The Post.

One of the officers was left bleeding heavily from a wound to his leg, while the other was shot in the hand, police said.

The cops were wounded when a shootout erupted as soon as they entered the Springfield Gardens apartment around 12:45 p.m., police said.

The wife of the shooter — who was killed in the confrontation — ended up notifying police that two of their own were struck down by bullets when she called 911 to report the gunfire, sources said.

Her husband had started firing at the cops as soon as they opened the door to the home at 145-86 179th St., and the officers responded by shooting back, police said.

The injured officers were taken to Jamaica Hospital — where Mayor Bill de Blasio was headed Tuesday afternoon, according to a tweet from a spokesman.
