A VILLAGE cricket row exploded after poo was left on dressing-room benches.
Volunteers had to work “through the night” to clear up the mess, discovered after a local derby.
Buckinghamshire side Chesham had cruised to a six-wicket home victory over neighbours Burnham.
But sources say staff later walked into the away dressing room and discovered the benches were used as a toilet.
A source said: “They were covered in poo. Chesham were due to host a big game the next day.
“Their poor staff had to work through the night to clean it up.”
The discovery on July 20 was reported to the Home Counties Premier Cricket League — and has since caused uproar.
The source added: “It’s just not village cricket. The Chesham boys were pretty angry and rightfully so. Some even wanted to report it to police.”
Burnham refused to comment on the claims but are understood to deny any involvement.
Chesham secretary Chris Royals last night said: “There is an ongoing league investigation so we won’t be able to say anything.”
League chairman Martin Phillips said it was not “appropriate” to comment.
