West Coast Eagles captain Luke Shuey has joined former captain Shannon Hurn in calling time, announcing on Tuesday morning he will retire at the end of the season.
Shuey, a big game star and captain for the past four years, produced one of the best individual performances in the 2018 Grand Final, receiving the Norm Smith medal for his efforts.

“As much as my mind wants to go on, my body won’t allow it and I have made the decision to retire at the end of this season,” Shuey said.
“We have tried everything to get my body right so I can contribute as I would like, but unfortunately a series of hamstring injuries have led me to this decision.”
He said the club was at an important stage of rebuilding after winning just two games this season, and would be bringing in new talent for next year’s season.
