Woman in her 20s killed in Stockwell hit-and-run as police launch manhunt for driver

The victim, in her 20s, was knocked down by the vehicle in Stockwell at around 4am.

Police are now hunting the driver who sped away from the scene leaving the woman fighting for her life in the street.

Detectives are appealing for any information related to the horrific killing.

Emergency workers arrived on the scene and battled to save the woman’s life.

She tragically died at the scene shortly after the arrival of the Met Police and London Ambulance Service.

Detective Sergeant Jose-Paulo Qureshi said cops are trying to track down the car while appealing to any witnesses to come forward.

He said: “We are doing everything we can to trace the vehicle involved in what is now a fatal collision.

"A young woman has lost her life. I would urge the driver concerned to contact police at the earliest opportunity.

"Equally there are those who saw what happened in this busy part of Stockwell and we need them to call the witness line and give information."
