A terrified woman with a dog collar soldered to her neck fled a dilapidated home where she’d been held captive for around a month and told shaken neighbors she’d been kept as a sex slave.
The woman fled the home of 39-year-old Tim Haslett in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, on and approached two neighbors for help, claiming she’d been raped and beaten.
Haslett, a father-of-one, is believed to have held the unidentified woman bound and captured for up to a month before she fled his alleged clutches.
Weak and frail, with a metal shock collar around her neck, the woman ran to the doors of multiple neighbors begging for help as her voice was nothing more than a slight whisper.
Lisa Johnson, who lives in the neighborhood, spotted the about 100-pound woman covered with bruises as she struggled to crawl up her porch steps on Friday.
‘She didn’t have much of a voice,’ Johnson told KSHB News. ‘It was more of a light “help me” than anything.’
Johnson rushed to call the police as the captive woman insisted ‘he’d kill [them] both’ before she fled to a different neighbor’s home and got help. She guessed the victim had been held captive since at least September.
Excelsior Springs Police Department told DailyMail.com that the initial search of Haslett’s home is complete, but they are preserving the scene in the event they uncover new evidence that will make them go back to the home.
‘As we look for evidence of kidnap and rape, we are also looking for signs of any other kidnapping that occurred along the way,’ a police spokesperson said.
The victim also told police that there were potentially two other victims, according to The Kansas City Star.

An elderly woman answered immediately answered the door for the victim after hearing her screams outside.
‘She heard a woman screaming and came knocking on the door, so she opened the door and the lady said, “You have to help me, I’ve been raped, I’ve been held captive,”‘ the elderly woman’s relative Ciara Tharp told KSHB News.
‘My grandma could tell she was weak,’ Tharp explained. ‘She didn’t have a whole lot of clothes on. She said she had a metal dog collar around her neck and could see the ligature marks around her wrists.’
Along with the shock collar, the victim appeared to have duct tape around her neck that may have previously been around her mouth.
The elderly woman rushed to offer the victim a blanket and gave her food.
‘There’s a possibility that my grandma got her in the house just in time,’ Tharp said.

Police are continuing to preserve the scene as they seek the possibility of more victims
Others later said they never saw their kidnapping neighbor out often or even stopped to chat with him.
‘I seen him walk his child up and down the street once in a while,’ neighbor Tim Grover told KSHB News.
It’s unclear how long the investigation will continue as the police seek additional victims.
Local resident Susan White noted the scene on Saturday as police gathered evidence.
‘It’s a small town,’ White told The Kansas City Star. ‘We’ve been here forever, and the past month and a half for this town has been absolutely nuts.’
White said the discover of the rape victim was ‘shocking’ after living obliviously to her neighbor’s actions.
‘It’s just so crazy,’ White said. ‘That could’ve been me. That could’ve been my daughter.’
She said that she was unable to get rest as the police lighted illuminated her room. Police will determine whether they need to return to the scene if more leads are discovered.
