Pebbles was born on March 28, 2000 and following the anointment of the chihuahua TobyKeith as the world's oldest dog, Pebbles' owners realised that their dog was the real victor.

Julie told Guinness World Records that: "Bobby was sitting on the couch and friends and family started texting and calling about a story they saw about a 21-year-old dog getting the record.

"When I saw TobyKeith’s story all over the news, I applied."

Shortly after initially acquiring Pebbles, the Toy Fox Terrier soon became a mother after giving birth to 32 puppies across three different litters with her pooch pal, Rocky, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 16.

Julie and Bobby announced Pebbles' passing in a press release where the pair revealed that she had spent most of her life in Taylors, South Carolina and was an extremely active dog.

“She spent her days enjoying country music and being loved. She enjoyed trying new foods, she was pampered, and most of all she was loved," the couple said.

They added: “Pebbles was not just another dog, she had her own way about her, and her own personality. She was a once in a lifetime companion, and it was an honour to have had that blessing to have her as a pet, and family member.

"There was no-one who met Pebbles who didn’t love her.”

Many fans of the departed canine were deeply saddened by her passing with one writing on Twitter: “RIP Pebbles.”
