Is this the most cursed film EVER? A medical emergency, a WW2 bomb, on-set meltdowns and multiple sackings – a look at Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz’s chaotic movie Back In Action
Although he’s said to be on the mend, Jamie Foxx was taken to a hospital after suffering an undisclosed medical emergency, his daughter Corinne Foxx revealed Wednesday.
The actor, 55, had been filming Back In Action in Atlanta with Cameron Diaz, 50, as recently as Monday, which has been plagued with complications.
The shoot, which was initially meant to be Cameron’s triumphant return to film, has instead been a nightmare for her and the rest of the cast and it’s been claimed she now plans to retire for good.
From an unexploded World War Two bomb found on set to a reported meltdown thrown by Jamie, the sacking of four crew members and an alleged scam to steal £33,000 from him, it certainly hasn’t been plain-sailing for those involved.
As production draws to a close, MailOnline takes a look into whether this is the most cursed film ever.

Jamie ‘throws an on-set meltdown, sacking four crew members’
It was reported in March that Jamie had become so unhappy with production on the London set of Back In Action, four people were sacked.
Production was thought to have been thrown into chaos when the actor threw an on-set ‘meltdown’.
According to The Sun, Oscar winner Jamie axed an executive producer, two directors and even his own driver becoming ‘pretty unpopular’ in the process.
A source told the publication: ‘There have been some issues on set and Jamie has had a major meltdown over it all’.
‘He demanded the problems be sorted immediately and sacked four of the production staff — as if that would magically improve the situation’.
Before adding: ‘Some people working on it are totally fed up with how this has played out and Jamie has become pretty unpopular.’
MailOnline contacted reps for Jamie and Netflix at the time.

Filming is halted after discovery of an unexploded war bomb on-set’
Back In Action was reportedly sent into further disarray when filming was temporarily cancelled in March.
Chaos is said to have erupted when an unexploded World War Two bomb was found on-set, just as two huge stunts – including a major explosion – were set to take place.
Production on the Netflix blockbuster was allegedly ground to a halt at East London’s Royal Docks, causing hundreds of thousands of pounds to be lost.
While the scenes were eventually shot against a green screen at Longcross Studios in Surrey, it was a ‘massive headache’ for those involved, according to claims.
A source told The Sun: ‘The stunt was booked to take place last month at the dock. A 24-metre barrier was being erected into the river, where the explosion would take place.
‘But it was during the building of the set that they believed they found what they thought to be an unexploded bomb in the water.
‘Safety was the main priority, so after speaking with the police and relevant authorities the whole thing was cancelled. Naturally, that part of the river is never normally disturbed, so it’s been left as it is.’
MailOnline contacted Netflix for comment at the time.

Jamie ‘calls police after being targeted in a £30,000 scam by worker’
Back In Action reportedly come to a halt in late March after a plot to steal £33,000 from Jamie in a scam emerged.
Bosses of the big budget Netflix movie were said to have paused the production as they carried out an investigation which led to a member of staff getting fired.
It was claimed police were contacted over the incident as it is thought the same worker may be linked to other attempts to obtain large sums of money from big stars in the past.
A source told The Sun: ‘This film has been a bit of a nightmare.
‘There have been a lot of delays, especially with the weather thanks to filming outdoors in London in winter, but the latest issue is a bit more sinister.
‘One staffer has been sacked, and there are investigations after someone tried to get access to £33,000 in cash from Jamie Foxx.
‘It sounds as though they tried to offer up a Rolex watch as part of the deal but now there’s an investigation into everything going on. People will be glad when this thing finally wraps.’
MailOnline contacted Netflix and a representative for Jamie at the time.

Cameron decides she won’t ever do another movie
Shortly after Jamie’s ‘meltdown’, a source told DailyMail.com Cameron likely won’t return to the world of film after wrapping the project.
They claimed she’s had such a hard time being away from her family and hates the ‘drama and confrontation’ that so often erupts on movie sets.
‘These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix,’ the friend told us exclusively, adding, ‘Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.’
‘She hates drama and confrontation. This is why she retired from the business in the first place,’ she source adds. ‘She has already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone.’
Cameron famously walked away from Hollywood in 2018 to spend more time with her rocker husband Benji, 44.
The two welcomed their daughter Raddix, three, in December 2019 and have been incredibly private about their lives as parents to their three-year-old.
According to the insider, while Benji has been incredibly ‘supportive’ of his wife’s decision to come out of retirement, the decision has taken a toll on him.
‘Benji is supportive of everything that Cameron does, but it has been a lot on him,’ the source continued. ‘Although she has gotten to see her family while shooting the film, it is just not the same.’
In regards to Jamie’s tantrum on set that led to him firing an executive producer, two directors and his driver, the insider was mum on specific details.
They did say, however, that they would be ‘incredibly surprised if it caused any tension between Jamie and Cameron.’
‘When you are in a position of authority, sometimes you have to make decisions to let people go who do not share the same vision as you,’ the pal says.
‘Cameron is a businessperson and understands that this is necessary at times and, honestly, Jamie is the only reason that she is doing this film and they are still very close.’

Jamie Foxx showing signs of improvement after he was rushed to HOSPITAL due to mystery medical emergency… after family begged fans to pray for him
Jamie Foxx has started to communicate after he was rushed to hospitaldue to a mystery medical emergency.
The actor, 55, was taken to a hospital after suffering an undisclosed medical condition, his daughter Corinne Foxx revealed on Wednesday.
In a statement attributed to the actor’s family that was posted to her Instagram account, they wrote that the star had suffered a ‘medical complication’ that required him to be taken to the hospital. He had been filming Back In Action in Atlanta with Cameron Diaz as recently as Monday.
The family also said in the statement that Foxx was now ‘on his way to recovery,’ though they didn’t reveal what medical issue he suffered.
But a source described the issue to TMZ in more serious terms, calling it a ‘medical emergency,’ though they said Foxx was now ‘communicating’ again.
DailyMail.com reached out to representatives for Foxx and has yet to hear back.
‘We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday [Tuesday],’ the family statement began.
Showing signs of improvement: Jamie Foxx, 55, was rushed to a hospital on Tuesday for an undisclosed ‘medical complication,’ his daughter Corinne Foxx revealed in a statement on Wednesday. He has been in Atlanta shooting his film Back In Action with Cameron Diaz; seen on set on Monday
Conflicting severity: A family statement said he ‘experienced a medical complication,’ though a source described the issue as a ‘medical emergency’ to TMZ
‘Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,’ they continued.
‘We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.’
Sources confirmed to TMZ that Foxx’s unnamed condition was indeed serious enough to require him to go to a hospital.
Few details have been shared at the moment, and it’s unclear what symptoms the Oscar winner may have been suffering from, or what led to him being taken to the hospital.
Despite his family’s statement that his condition is improving, there’s no word yet on when he will be able to leave the hospital or get back to filming.
Foxx has lately been in Atlanta, Georgia, where he has been filming the action-comedy Back In Action.
The film has been marketed as the return to acting for his costar Cameron Diaz, whom he helped to lure back for the film, though she reportedly plans to retire for good after a string of catastrophes on the film set. Glenn Close is also featured in the film.
Later, sources with direct knowledge of Foxx’s condition told TMZ that he had been taken to the hospital on Tuesday morning.
Together in a crisis: Sources later told TMZ that Foxx’s family had rushed from out of town to be by his side in the hospital, suggesting they feared that it was a serious issue; seen with daughter Corinne in 2019 in LA
Hard at work: Foxx was last pictured on set on Monday. He was seen filming a scene with a women’s soccer team in Atlanta, while Diaz and costar Glenn Close filmed a separate scene cheering on the team
They emphasized that his condition was serious enough that the actor’s family came from out of town to be with him at the hospital.
One source added, ‘He’s communicating now, and that’s good news,’ which may imply that he was at one point unable to communicate due to the medical emergency.
Foxx shares his daughter Corinne with his ex-girlfriend Connie Kline. He also has a 13-year-old daughter Annalise, whom he shares with Kristin Grannis.
His latest film shoot in Atlanta appears to have been a surprisingly stressful ordeal for the Baby Driver actor, as well as his colleagues.
It was reported last month that Foxx ‘had an absolute meltdown’ while the film was shooting in the UK, which led to the firing of multiple people.
He reportedly booted an executive producer from the project, along with two directors and even his own driver.
According to The Sun, one staffer was fired in relation to an apparent scam to access £33,000 in cash from the actor, which was reportedly in relation to the sale of a Rolex watch.
There was even more drama when it was revealed that production was paused last month after an unexploded WWII-era bomb was discovered on the film’s set in London, just before two major action scenes were set to be filmed.
One thing after another: The shoot has reportedly been trying for Foxx. He called police and fired multiple crew members after he was allegedly targeted in a scam, and production was temporarily shut down after an unexploded WWII-era bomb was found on set in the UK; seen in August 2022
The shoot, which was initially meant to be Cameron’s triumphant return to film, has instead been a nightmare for her and the rest of the cast.
A friend of the Mask star revealed exclusively to DailyMail.com that she is likely to go back into retirement for good as soon as she wraps her comeback film due to all the drama around it, though she also is apparently opposed to the standard arguments and criticisms that come with any film set.
Few details about the film’s plot or characters have been revealed.
Photos from Monday appeared to show Foxx coaching the women’s soccer team, but he and Diaz were seen on set in the UK last month filming what appeared to be action scenes out in a snowy forest.
