Katy Rickitt has taken to social media to share her struggle getting into work after being called last minute. The ITV presenter shared with her an insight into her busy life with her 14,000 Instagram followers as she made her way into the studio.

She posted a picture of her car dashboard, showing that her low fuel light had come on.

Katy wrote: “Called in last min today, rocked up running on fumes!!”

But in a later story the star clarified she made it to the studio safely as she shared a video from the green room.

In the clip, Katy could be seen standing next to her co-star Michael Billington and a Christmas tree.

She wrote: “But we made time to get excited about the tree.”

In the video, she could be heard saying: “Good evening and happy Friday.

“We just wanted to share some excitement with you because, look, it’s beginning to look a little bit like Christmas.”

Katy also took to Twitter, where she has a following of 19,800, to share an update with her fans.

She uploaded a selfie alongside Michael as they both smiled broadly for the camera.

The presenter penned: “Wasn’t supposed to be working today… but really enjoyed time with this little peaky blinder @mbillingtonitv.

“Happy weekend all!” she concluded.

Michael replied: “The pleasure was all mine!”

Katy is best known for her news reports on Good Morning Britain.

However, earlier this year she joined ITV for a temporary position fronting Calendar’s news for Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

On her first official day, Katy shared a video message with fans after receiving messages of support over the new job.

“The day has arrived!” she captioned the clip.

She continued: “Actually made a decision for the first time in my life! Off to go and get prepped on the news of the day!!

“Just before I get started, I wanted to say thank you to everyone for all of your lovely messages over the weekend.

“It’s my first day on Calendar so I’m really looking forward to it.”
