Adam Thomas sets Strictly ‘fix’ claims straight over wife’s dance teacher career

Adam Thomas has rubbished Strictly Come Dancing fix rumours, insisting his wife Caroline Daly has “not given me any tips”.

On Saturday (16 September), the Waterloo Road actor is due to make his Strictly debut after being “such a big fan of the show for years”.

However, fans and critics alike have been quick to slate Adam, 34, for having a seemingly “unfair advantage” after he revealed his wife of six years, Caroline, 32, is a dance instructor.

Speaking to The Sun, the ex-Emmerdale star stated: “She’s a dance teacher. But no, she’s not given me any tips.

“We literally had this argument the other day, I was like ‘Why have you not taught me how to dance after all these years I’ve been with you?’,” he continued.

The dad-of-two also claimed that while in conversation with Caroline, she queried why he had never “taught her how to act”.

“I was like, ‘Yeah, very good point actually’,” he added.

While his spouse may know her way around the dancefloor, Adam has further stated that he has never danced in a professional capacity before.

While exploring his history, the Emmerdale favourite said: “No dance experience whatsoever, I have never danced before.

“I have no dance experience so this is definitely a first for me.”

However, the former I’m A Celeb contestant has also said he is “excited to learn” and simply cannot wait to get started on the BBC ballroom show.

“I’m so excited, I’ve been such a big fan of the show for years, I can’t believe I’m actually doing it.”

While Caroline may not have been showing him the ropes, Adam has previously said that his children have stepped up to the plate to show him a “few things”.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, the actor said: “My kids are great dancers so they’ve been teaching me and showing me a few things, my son’s nine this week, Elsie’s five, so they’re going to be watching it and they’re huge fans of the show already.

“We’re going on this journey, but it’s not just us, it’s our family as well.

“They’ll be watching us every night, cheering us on, that’s what it’s about for me.”

Adam Thomas was the first cast member to be announced for the 2023 edition of Strictly Come Dancing.

The actor is best known for his roles as Donte Charles in Waterloo Road and Adam Barton in ITV’s Emmerdale.

The Salford-born star is also no stranger to competing alongside fellow famous faces, as he has previously appeared on All Star Family Fortunes, The Chase Celebrity Special and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The 21st series of Strictly Come Dancing will air via BBC One on Saturday at 6.35pm.
