Adele Roberts undergoes colonoscopy day after reporting on Queen's funeral

Adele Roberts has shared selfies from hospital just hours after presenting some of the BBC coverage for the Queen’s state funeral on Monday, as she gave her followers a health update during her recovery from bowel cancer.

Or as she put it herself: ‘What a difference a day makes…’

The BBC Radio 1 presenter, who was told she was free of the disease in June after battling it since last October, joined her colleagues including John Murray, Mike Costello, Rachel Burden, Nuala McGovern, Chris Mason, Jamie Coomarasamy, Andrea Catherwood and James Naughtie to report on the historic day on the BBC’s airwaves from 9am.

Meanwhile, Sophie Raworth covered events from Parliament Square for television during the nine-hour broadcast, Huw Edwards was at the forefront of BBC coverage and David Dimbleby and Kirsty Young reported from Windsor.

However, on Tuesday Adele was facing a colonoscopy as she explained her and her doctors were exploring the fact she could have anaemia.

Sharing some cheerful thumbs-up selfies in a hospital gown, the 43-year-old wrote: ‘This time yesterday I was making my way back from the Palace after saying goodbye to our Queen… Today I’m about to have a camera shoved up my bum 🤣

‘Apparently, this is a potential sign that you might have low iron. Spoke to my GP, got tested and she was right! Thank you so much Makee!’

Commenting on her close-cropped hairstyle, she signed off with: ‘Pps. Makee has also inspired me and Kate to get back into Stranger Things. Absolutely channelling Eleven in the final pic 🤩’

The presenter’s road to recovery from cancer has so far included a stoma prolapse, which forced her to miss Scott Mill’s Radio 1 leaving do.

When she announced that she would be part of the BBC team reporting on Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, following Her Majesty’s death at Balmoral on September 8, Adele said she was ‘incredibly proud’ to be involved.
