Alison Hammond has said she thinks nurses deserve a higher pay rise than 19 per cent, as she spoke about the nurses' strike on This Morning.
The Royal College of Nursing has called for a pay rise of 5 per cent above inflation, which puts their proposed pay rise at around 19.2 per cent, amid a historic strike which has seen many nurses across the country take industrial action.
The strikes were discussed on This Morning on Friday (16 December), with Alison and co-host Dermot O'Leary discussing the issue with Carol Vorderman and Gyles Brandreth.
Speaking in favour of the strike, Gyles said: "We've got to reframe it and value the people who do the work, all of them, as much as the people who do the paperwork and the senior medical people who are quite well rewarded."
"I don't even think 19.2 per cent is enough, if I'm honest with you," Alison admitted in response. "I'd put more".
"Would you?" Carol asked.
To which Alison replied: "Yeah, I think they deserve it, I really do."
It comes after Alison left viewers amazed as she revealed she had a surprise cameo in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix documentary.
The first three episodes of the series were released last week, and detail the royal couple's relationship up until their wedding.
The third episode saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex discuss their first official royal walkabout, and it's here that Alison's voice can be heard, as she shouts "Meghan, we love you!" to the pair.
Discussing the documentary on This Morning previously, Alison said that she's obsessed with the series before going on to speak of her cameo.
She told Dermot: "I don't know if you know but in the third episode you do actually hear my voice."
To which Dermot asked: "What?" as Alison continued: "You hear me in Nottingham going, 'Meghan we love you', you hear it really really loud."
Recalling how she noticed this, she said: "So I was watching the documentary and was like, 'That's my voice' I was like, 'This is so good,'" adding that she's "all over this documentary."
As she finished, Dermot joked:"There will be no limit with her after this."
