Angela Scanlon gives Strictly Come Dancing update
Strictly Come Dancing contestant Angela Scanlon has revealed that competing in the show will allow her to spend more time with her husband.
The 39-year-old Irish broadcaster, who is best known for hosting BBC Two’s Your Home Made Perfect, joined the cast of the 2023 series earlier this year alongside the likes of Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas and EastEnders star Bobby Brazier.
Her tech entrepreneur spouse Roy Horgan was in favour of it, too – a move, she says, will allow her to see much more of him.
“He said go for it – that’s always been his mentality,” she said. “Hugely supportive and of the school of thought that you regret the things you don’t do rather than the things that you do.
“Sometimes I can be selective or protective of myself, but actually, I’m just a bit afraid.”

Angela and Roy, who married in 2014 and live in London, should be able to see each other more now, given her commitments to Strictly.
She added to OK! Magazine: “I travel quite a bit for work. I do a chat show in Ireland and my work here takes me all over the place.
“The idea that I’ll be waking up at home every day feels like a bit of consistency – even though everything else feels very different.”
Scanlon also recently expressed her concern over a specific dance which she may have to tackle during her time in the reality dance show.

Speaking to press including Express.co.uk, the presenter said: “I feel the Rumba will be grossly uncomfortable for me and everybody watching,” as that specific dance would take her “right to the edge of discomfort”.
The Rumba is a slow and sensual dance known for its swaying hip movements, with some of the most memorable from previous year’s being Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse’s to Aint No Sunshine back in 2019.
Fans will need to tune in to see how Angela and her fellow contestants get on in the first show of the series, which will air this Saturday.
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will return as co-hosts, while head judge Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton du Beke will take their seats on the judging panel.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday at 6.35pm.
