BGT stars reunite for David Walliams’ star-studded birthday party

Comedian David Walliams celebrated his 52nd birthday in style this year, with plenty of A-listers joining him for the star-studded bash.

The Little Britain star was joined by his former Britain’s Got Talent colleagues, including Amanda Holden, 52, Alesha Dixon, 44 and Ant McPartlin, 47.

Also in attendance at the posh event held at The River Café in West London on Thursday was Friends star David Schwimmer, 56.

Even 90-year-old screen legend Sir Michael Caine rocked up to the event, joining to pose for pictures with Sir Tom Courtenay, 86.

David’s fellow comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon also came along to enjoy the shindig.

Former footballer Jamie Redknapp, 50, and his wife Frida Andersson were also seen getting stuck into the festivities alongside Kickass actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 33.

Torn songstress Natalie Imbruglia, 48, was also pictured, as well as Angels singer Robbie Williams, 49.

Photographs on Instagram showed David blowing out the candles on a large chocolate cake with a rather rude message written on it in white icing.

It simply read: “Happy birthday you p**f.”

David’s reunion with his Britain’s Got Talent pals comes after The Guardian newspaper obtained leaked transcripts from episodes filmed at the London Palladium in January 2020.

Unbeknownst to David, his offensive remarks during the show were picked up by microphones used to capture discussions between the judges when they are sitting at their desk.

After one unsuccessful audition, the comedian described a pensioner as a “c***” three times after he walked off stage.

After a female auditionee walked off stage, he also said: “She’s like the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to fuck them, but you don’t.”

Lawyers for David and Thames TV, the production company behind Britain’s Got Talent, have since argued the comments were part of a private conversation never intended for broadcast.

In a statement, David said: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020. These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

A Thames spokesperson said that even though the production company regarded the comments as private, David’s language was “inappropriate” and he had been reminded of the show’s “expectations as to future professional conduct”.
