Billie Shepherd shares mum guilt as she balances work and three children

Billie Shepherd has admitted to feeling mum guilt as she attempted to juggle her bustling work life while maintaining her family of five.

The former TOWIE star, who sprung onto UK screens back in 2010 alongside fan favourites like Joey Essex, Gemma Collins and Lauren Goodger, is quite the busy bee nowadays despite leaving the ITV reality show back in 2016.

While filming her ITVBe reality series, Billie and Greg: The Family Diaries, Billie also works with her sister Samantha Faiers on their podcast, The Sam & Billie Show, and is often pictured at various star-studded events across the nation.

Outside of work, Billie is married to Greg Shepherd, 38, and they have three kids, Nellie, eight, Arthur, six, and four-month-old Margot.

But maintaining such an intense lifestyle is never easy, and Billie has now admitted to feeling guilty over the balance between her professional and private lives.

Speaking to The Sun about Disney’s The Wonder of Play campaign, Billie said that “mum guilt” is definitely a thing.

"It's definitely something that I've had over the years, and yes I feel like sometimes it is down to work,” she said, noting how her younger kids ask why she’s got to work.

She explained: "We're so open and honest with the kids, and I think that you do just have to be honest, and that is why we're working. It's ultimately so that, you know, we can have a nice life and it's all for them.

"I think 'mum guilt' does kick in, but I feel like I just try and have a bit of a balance, I think, obviously, at the minute, it feels quite a lot, because I have gone back to work pretty soon, I think most women have a year maternity leave for some jobs, and that's amazing.”

Billie did acknowledge that while it can be stressful, she is able to take her babies to work where a lot of other mums couldn’t.

Luckily, Billie feels like she is starting to get the balance right after feeling a little more settled following the birth of Margot in December.

Billie is often incredibly honest about her life as a mum and is even more so applauded for her incredible candour while discussing the highs and lows of motherhood.

While chatting with OK last month, Billie explained: “What I really struggle with is if I have loads of questions thrown at me, or I’m trying to organise plans, I really struggle to concentrate on one thing.

"It’s like brain fog. I didn’t have that with Nelly and Arthur and I think it could be something hormonal as well. It’s a mixture, because my life is quite full on.”
