Billy Ray Cyrus appears to confirm engagement to Firerose six months after Tish split

Country legend Billy Ray Cyrus appears to have confirmed his engagement to his new girlfriend, just six months on from his break up with wife of 28 years Tish Cyrus.

Taking to Instagram, the singer shared a series of selfies with singer Firerose – real name Rose Hughes – where she donned a large diamond ring on her wedding finger.

Billy, 61, simply captioned the snap: “Happy Autumn,” followed by an orange heart emoji.

While it isn’t 100 per cent clear if the new flames are set to wed, Billy Ray’s fans have rushed to congratulate the pair.

“Congrats Papaw!” wrote one fan, as someone else said: “Nice engagement ring congrats”.

“Congrats to you both,” added a third, while a fourth person penned: “Congratulations on the engagement”.

OK! have contacted Billy Ray and Firerose’s representatives for comment.

Tish and Billy Ray, who are parents to Nothing Breaks Like A Heart singer Miley Cyrus, 29, as well as Brandi, 35, Trace, 33, Braison, 28, and Noah, 22, are said to have filed for divorce in April where they cited "irreconcilable differences".

They’d previously filed for divorce in 2010, but shortly after decided against it.

Since what looks to be the pair’s final separation, Billy has embarked on a relationship with Firerose.

"They've been dating for a little while," a source told People magazine. “They grew close while working on music together. It is what it is. He and Tish were over before he started dating her."

As to who Firerose is, the blonde beauty hails from Australia and is an aspiring singer-songwriter, according to the publication, and is thought to be in her 20s.

In the wake of her collaborating on new music with Billy last year, Firerose now appears to look at the Achy Breaky Heart singer as her “mentor”.

Discussing her love of music, Firerose toldMain Street Nashvillelast year: “I honestly can’t tell you where it came from but my spirit and my soul connected to the world through music and helped me make sense of everything.

“I would get home from school and write a song about my day and thought that it was a normal thing to do.”

Adding how she taught herself the piano, the songstress went on: “It just felt right to sit at the keys. I didn’t know the names of the chords but I felt it and I played by ear.”
