Brad Pittbought the home his elderly Los Angeles neighbour lived in – then let him carry on living there rent-free, it has been revealed.

The Fight Club actor bought the 1.9-acre property from actress Cassandra Peterson in 1994 for a reported £1.3m, and she's now revealed that the purchase was just one of many for the Oscar-winning star.

Cassandra told People that there were about 22 houses around Brad's property and "every time" one was on the market, he purchased it.

She explained that a widowed man, named John, lived in one of the houses snapped up by the Hollywood actor.

"[Pitt] was very, very kind to the husband," Cassandra said. "His wife passed away and the husband, John, lived there.

"I know that Brad allowed him to live there without paying anything until he died. It was kind of funny because John lived to be 105.

"I imagine Brad was thinking well, you know, he can live there till he dies, which might be any minute now."

She went on to recount her own experience with Brad saying that he was “so stunningly, stunningly handsome and nice”.

She explained that she once came across a topless Brad punching a punchbag in his garage and said that she "almost fainted" and "turned red" when he spoke to her.

The property in which the actor lived and raised his children alongside ex-wifeAngelina Joliewas sold in an off-market deal for about $40m in March this year.

Brad, who attendedthe British Grand Prix earlier this month, has beengetting nostalgicabout past relationships recently.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, he spoke about his ex, actress Juliette Lewis, saying that he “still loves” her.

The pair when he was 27 and she was 17, and were together from 1989 until 1993.

He said: "I still love the woman. There's some real genius there. I had a great time with her.

"It was one of the greatest relationships I've ever been in. The problem is, we grow up with this vision that love conquers all, and that's just not so, is it?"
