Britney Spears’ sons have spoken out amid claims from their father Kevin Federline that they haven’t seen their mother for ‘months’.
The Toxic hitmaker, 40, shares Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, with ex-husband Federline, 44.
Federline recently said that their boys have ‘decided’ not to see their mother and chose not to go to her wedding to actor Sam Asghari, 28, in June.
‘There were a lot of things going on that I didn’t feel comfortable with,’ he claimed.
‘They tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but at the same time, I can tell that sometimes, it hurts to be in that position.’
Now, Preston and Jayden have offered their side of the story and opened up on their hopes to reconcile with their pop star mother.
Their comments, published by Mail Online, will air on ITV news this Friday.
Stressing that there’s ‘no hate’ between them, Jayden said: ‘I 100% think this can be fixed. It’s just going to take a lot of time and effort. I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better I really want to see her again.’
Sending a direct message to his mother, he added: ‘I love you a lot, I hope for the best for you. Maybe one day we can sit down like this and talk again.’
However, the two teens didn’t believe her wedding to Sam – whom she met on set of a music video in 2016 – would’ve been the right place to reunite.
‘At the time it just wasn’t a good time to go. I’m not saying that I’m not happy for her,’ Jayden explained. ‘I’m really happy for them, but she didn’t invite the whole family and then if it was just going to be me and Preston, I just don’t see how that situation would have ended on good terms.’
The boys’ father was reportedly given 70% custody in 2019, with him and his wife of nine years Victoria, 39, being present for much of their upbringing.
He claimed the boys eventually stopped their overnight stays with their mother.
Federline has two older children, Kori, 20 and Kaleb, 18, from a previous relationship with actress Shar Jackson, as well as two children with Victoria – Jordan, 11 and eight-year-old Peyton, and Jayden says he feels ‘safe’ living with his blended family.
‘I feel this is my safe place. My home. I love everybody here,’ he said.
Jayden, who appears more extroverted than his brother during their interview, insists that the siblings are ‘very united’: ‘He is always looking out for me and I am looking out for him. We make sure that we are both healthy mentally’.
They also reflected on growing up in the spotlight and feeling ‘inspired’ by his mother’s success.
‘There was this TV and it just showed all these people, and it showed her singing and dancing on the stage, and when I saw that I was like, “Wow, that is a lot of people”, and I came to the realisation of how famous she was and how successful she is as a person and that inspired me,’ Jayden added.

In November 2021, the Gimme More singer was freed from her 13-year conservatorship, allowing her control over her life and finances again.
Speaking on Jamie Spears – the musician’s father – Jayden claims he ‘doesn’t deserve all the hatred he is getting in the media’.
‘At first he was just trying to be like any father letting her pursue her daughter’s dream of becoming a superstar, but I did think maybe the conservatorship went on too long, probably why my Mum was very angry about the whole situation that she was working for too long and I personally think she was. She should have taken a break and relaxed,’ he said.
But he insists that he loves his grandfather ‘with all my heart’.
‘He was just trying to be a father.’
Responding to her sons’ interview, Spears put out a lengthy statement on her Instagram, telling the boys that she send ‘all the love in the world’ to them ‘every day’.
‘My love for my children has no boundaries’, she wrote, saying it ‘deeply saddens’ her to hear she ‘wasn’t up to his expectations as a mother’.
‘Maybe one day we can meet face to face and talk about this openly’, she added before ripping into their father and branding him a ‘hypocrite’.
