Catherine Zeta-Jones, 52, admitted her “humble heart breaks today” after finding out that Queen Elizabeth II had died. The actress took to Instagram to pen an emotional reflection about Britain’s longest-serving monarch.

In view of her 4.2 million followers, she shared two throwback pictures of the Queen when she was young as she said the Monarch would “always will be close” to her heart.

Catherine wrote: “Dearest HRH Queen Elizabeth, you have been and always will be close to my humble heart as it breaks today.

“Our nation salutes you. Thank you.

“God Bless The Queen. Long Live The King.”

Fans of the Hollywood star followed suit as they rushed to the comments section to pay tribute to the Queen.

Hatfield Scott said: “The end of an era. What a lucky woman she was to have been able to welcome 3 female prime ministers during her reign.

“She shall long be remembered with admiration. She will be missed.”

Katiecat_syles penned: “We are going to miss her terribly, what is the world going to do without her.

“I can’t express my sorrow at her passing.

“Rest In Peace your great and royal Majesty.”

Beth_phillips_1 typed: “Rest in Love, our sweet Queen.

“You served your duty out until the very end, and the world thanks you for your service.”

Prime Minister Liz Truss echoed mourners’ devastation as she made an emotional speech remembering the “inspirational” Queen’s extraordinary life.

She said: “We are all devastated by the news that we have just heard from Balmoral.

“The death of Her Majesty the Queen is a huge shock to the nation and to the world.”

The PM continued: “It’s an extraordinary achievement to have presided with such dignity and grace for 70 years.

“Her life of service stretched beyond most of our living memories.

“In return, she was loved and admired by the people in the United Kingdom and all around the world.

“She has been a personal inspiration to me, and to many Britons – her devotion to duty is an example to us all.”

During her 70-year reign, she oversaw Britain’s post-war recovery, the changing face of the Commonwealth and the UK’s pandemic response.
