I paid $215 for my wedding reception dress – there was a major issue that wasted hours of my life | The Sun

A NEWLYWED woman was left speechless after seeing the excessive packaging that her sparkly dress arrived in.

Emily Fowler (@emily_n_fowler) vented her frustration after having to spend almost four hours removing plastic from her dress before being able to wear it.

She gained 17,000 followers on TikTok while documenting the weeks leading up to her destination wedding in Mexico.

The medical representative spent $215 on an embellished mini-dress from Mew Mews for her reception party.

She was visibly annoyed after the sparkly frock arrived with extensive plastic applied to keep it from being scratched.

The text over the video read: “Paid $215 for a dress for my wedding reception and I have to peel plastic off of every single piece of mirror on it.”

She followed up the post showing that the dress looked beautiful once she finally managed to put it on.

“Only 3.5 hours of peeling, gluing 15 pieces back on, and some cut-up fingers but here she is all nice and ready for the wedding in one month!” Emily wrote.

She explained that she was more focused on style than comfort when she bought the dress because it was just for the last dance and exit at her wedding reception party.

She said: “It was a lot more work than I bargained for but I love it now that it’s all fixed!”

The video went viral with almost 5 million views as commenters reassured Emily that the finished look was worth the hours spent preparing the dress to wear.

“The effort was worth it… you look incredible,” another commented.

“Definitely worth the stress. It’s very beautiful,” a third said.

“Was better than I expected. Gorgeous and fits you so well,” a fourth wrote.

“It’s a really beautiful dress just so inconvenient,” another added.

Emily responded to commenters who wanted to buy the dress for themselves by suggesting that they try a dupe that she found on Ali Express.

She showed that the online retailer was selling a similar sleeveless mini dress for $103.

Emily said: “Pretty sure the company I bought from just bought this dress and upcharged me but here is the dupe for everyone asking!”
