Chloe Madeley admits she panics over dad Richard’s GMB job as he ‘has no filter’

GMB: Richard Madeley says Chloe is ‘ready to pop’

Chloe Madeley revealed in a new interview that she’s always “nervous” about dad Richard Madeley’s Good Morning Britain performances, for fear of what he might say.

Despite acknowledging that he’s “the most informed man I’ve ever met”, she added that he has “no filter” and can be worryingly blunt when it comes to discussing all things political.

The 36-year-old mum-of-one clarified on the Secure The Insecure podcast: “He says what he thinks. He says what comes into his head. So it makes sense that people make fun of him.

“When I watch dad on Good Morning Britain, I’m a bit more nervous because it is a bit more political. It is much more hard-hitting and my dad is my dad.

“He doesn’t have much of a filter and I’m always worried like, ‘Oh God, what is he going to say?” she confided.

Chloe added that, despite her fears, her 67-year-old dad has more knowledge than people give him credit for.

Explaining that he was a journalist by trade, she insisted he was “so much more capable than I think people thought he was when he was doing This Morning”.

“There are definitely times when I think fans are a little disrespectful, especially when I think about what he’s done for the landscape of television,” she added.

Meanwhile, she conceded that being under-estimated or even trolled is all part of the experience of being in the public eye.

“Suck it up buttercup, you’ve got to get a thick skin and it ain’t ever going to stop,” she joked.

Meanwhile, Chloe, whose fly-on-the-wall reality TV series, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair, is due to appear on ITVBe later in the year, is no stranger to being trolled herself.

Unlike some, she states that she refuses to “take the high ground and stay quiet” when critics attack her.

When she came under fire after husband James Haskell was spotted with their baby daughter Bodhi on his lap during a car journey they took together, she reacted publicly on Instagram.

As trolls branded the couple irresponsible, she hit back: “How dare you insinuate that because we’re in a 10 minute taxi ride where legally our child under the age of three sits on our lap, that I’m a bad mother?

“You are the worst of us women. Go away. Get a grip. Get a life.”

She added: “Understanding the law is not your forte. Do you think you’re more informed than the law?”
