Coronation Street star breaks silence on return as ‘terrible mum’

Corrie: Daisy emotionally discusses her father with Jenny

Coronation Street star Amy Robbins will be back on screens in the ITV soap as Christina Boyd for one episode next month, but is this the last we will be seeing of her?

Earlier this year, the actress was spotted on the Weatherfield set by who she believed was a fan waiting for an autograph.

The next thing she knew, details of her return came to light on social media and in the press, much to the delight of viewers.

Speaking to Expess.co.uk, Amy said while little details are known about her next storyline, she doesn’t believe she’ll be staying.

She spilled: “She’s a terrible mother who comes in and out of poor old Daisy’s life.

“She comes in and out of her life, that’s the nature of their relationship.

“So that means I come in and out of Coronation Street, which is lovely for me.”

Amy added her “bold character” is “great fun” to play and that fans can expect more drama on her return.

On working with the cast, she added: “They’re a lovely bunch up there, it’s a lovely atmosphere.”

In August, a soap insider told The Sun: “Amy’s really popular in the cast so everyone was pleased to have her back.

“She’ll be popping in and out of the soap occasionally.”

An ITV spokesperson has since told Express.co.uk that Amy will return for one episode on November 3.

Amy first made an appearance on the Cobbles back in January to attend daughter Daisy Midgeley’s (Charlotte Jordan) wedding to Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).

After a heated argument with Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) over her marriage, Christina decided that it was best to stay away.

Since her exit, Daisy has become the target of an acid attack by her stalker Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still), which resulted in Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) getting caught in the crossfire.

Most recently, spoiler pictures show Daisy giving in to her feelings for Ryan as the pair kiss behind Daniel’s back.

Is this the time for Christina to step in?

Amy is currently a part of Calendar Girls: The Musical, touring nationwide.

The shows will continue across 2024, with further dates and casting to be announced. To find out more information, visit the website.

Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 8pm on ITV.
