Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent reveals health scare on cruise as she asks for advice

Former Coronation Street actress Brooke Vincent has opened up on the ‘annoying’ health condition she has developed on a family holiday.

The 31 year old actress, who played Sophie Webster on the cobbles for almost 20 years, took to Instagram to seek advice from fans after getting prickly heat while on a sun-soaked cruise.

Brooke revealed she was suffering from the condition as she uploaded a bikini selfie that showed her reddened chest.

The actress said: “So … I have early stages of prickly heat! It doesn't always happen which is annoying A F.

"Does anyone have any advice or recommendations on how to help soothe or stop it please?"

Prickly heat – also known as heat rash – is usually harmless and tends to get better on its own after a few days. The symptoms are small, raised spots, an itchy, prickly feeling and mild swelling.

The main thing to do is keep skin cool to avoid sweating and irritating the rash. This can be done by wearing loose cotton clothing, taking cool showers and drinking plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.

A cold compress can also be used to calm the prickly feeling – while a pharmacist might recommend something like calamine lotion or antihistamine tablets.

The condition did not affect Brooke’s holiday too much though, as she went on to share images of the cruise ship pulling into the harbour in the luxury French resort of Cannes.

The actress is on a swanky £2,000 a week cruise break with sons Mexx, three, and Monroe, two, along with her fiance, the West Bromwich Albion footballer Kean Bryan, 26.

She has been documenting the luxurious trip on social media – posing for pictures on the deck of the boat in a swimsuit and with her children in Manchester United shirts.

In October last year, Brooke exclusively spoke to OK! about her reasons for leaving Coronation Street. She boldly left her career-defining role as Sophie Webster to focus on family life in 2019 after 18 years on the soap.

Her character, Sophie Webster, departed the cobbles at the time to go off on her travels after girlfriend Paula Martin (played by Stirling Gallacher) bought the tickets for her. Speaking for the first time about her reasons, Brooke said the long and unpredictable hours made it impossible for her to go back without sacrificing time with her kids.

She told us: "I left Corrie when I was pregnant. From the age of 11, there’s always been something that’s been the main focus that has had to take priority over other things.

"I’d wanted to be a mum for so long that I didn’t know how I’d feel about going back to work straight away.

“The hard thing about Corrie was that the hours aren’t a normal nine-to-five, or you couldn’t go part-time, or you couldn’t start after 10am. There was physically no way that I could do it without having a nanny. And there’s Kean’s football as well. I didn’t want the pressure of making those decisions when I didn’t know how I was going to feel.”
