Corrie’s Maureen Lipman arrives solo at NTAs after saying she would reveal new man

Despite announcing her new romance recently, actress Maureen Lipman walked the red carpet at the National Television Awards solo.

The Coronation Street actress, 77, had opened up about her new beau, named David, in an interview days prior to the event and revealed she was planning to attend the NTAs with her new man.

However, it appears there was a change of plan as Maureen graced the red carpet alone at the O2 Arena on Tuesday, looking stylish in a black and pink ensemble.

The star grinned for the cameras as she modelled black trousers and a matching top, paired with an oversized pink shirt and high heels.

Maureen accessorised with a statement pearl necklace and matching earrings, and opted for heavy eye make-up and pink lipstick to match her outfit.

Just days before the annual awards bash, which took place on 5 September, Maureen revealed she is dating a new mystery man, who she would be hitting the red carpet with as they looked to go public with their romance.

Speaking about the NTAs in a new interview with the Sunday Express, Dame Maureen said: “I’m going with my gentleman friend David – it’s a baptism of fire for him. The most important thing is that I find a dress.”

She described her new beau as "very nice", adding: “It’s a gift for all concerned. It’s a gift and he’s been very nice. I’ve met some nice men in my life, some really interesting men, and we will see where it goes.”

Maureen's new romance comes two years after the death of her longterm partner Guido Castro, who she dated from 2008 until his passing in 2021. Guido, who suffered from Parkinson's Disease, passed away at the age of 84 after contracting coronavirus.

Prior to her romance with Guido, Maureen was married to dramatist Jack Rosenthal from 1974 until his death in 2004 from bone cancer. The couple share two children, Amy and Adam, who are both writers.

At this year's NTAs, Maureen has been nominated for Best Serial Drama Performance for her role as Evelyn Plummer in Coronation Street.

The 77 year old has tough competition however, with fellow Coronation Street Charlotte Jordan, 28, who plays Daisy Midgeley in the soap, also being nominated for the same award, as well as EastEnders star Danielle Harold, who played Lola Pearce-Brown in the BBC One soap, and Dominic Brunt, who plays Paddy Kirk in Emmerdale.
