Corrie’s Simon Gregson ‘faces having business demolished after council row’

Corrie: Simon Gregson reveals how filming show has changed

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson, 49, and his wife Emma Gleave reportedly face having their independent business closed down following new development plans.

The couple’s award-winning business Morley Tea Rooms, located near Wilmslow, is popular with Cheshire locals and offers a range of food and drink options, as well as afternoon tea.

According to The Sun, however, Morley Nurseries, the home of their venture, faces being demolished after Cheshire East Council approved planning permission for new homes to be built on the land.

The Gregsons are said to have been campaigning tirelessly against the proposals, but despite 188 objections, four homes on the business site were given the green light in September.

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Simon, Morley Tearooms, Morley Nurseries and The Cheshire East Council for comment.

Former Hollyoaks actress Emma, who took over the tearooms in October 2022, was the recipient of a Good Food award last week.

Announcing the news on Facebook, she wrote: “Thrilled!!! I have the best team and customers!!! One very lucky lady, thanks for all your support xxxxx.”

Simon also posed for a picture with his wife to celebrate the award on his Instagram.

He told Manchester Evening News: “Sometimes when we’re busy I’ll help out, but Emma doesn’t need or want my help really.

“I’ve had a few colleagues in and they’ll say ‘you’re not really taking my order are you?’ but I do it more as a laugh.”
