Helen Skelton has reportedly signed up to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, following her shock split from husband Richie Myler earlier this year.

The 39 year old TV host is said to be the latest celebrity to join this year's line-up, alongside the likes of Kym Marsh and Will Mellor, according to The Sun.

A source said: “It’s the perfect way to bounce back. Most people are absolutely desperate to avoid the Strictly curse but Helen would love it to give her some confidence back.

“She’s a great signing for the show and enormously popular with viewers, especially after what has happened to her lately.

“Everyone on the inside thinks she could end up going a very long way.”

OK! has contacted Helen's representatives for comment.

Helen announced her split from rugby player Richie, 32, back in April, just four months after she gave birth to the couple's third child.

She announced the sad news on Instagram, saying: "Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co parent our small children."

The dad-of-three has since gone public with his new girlfriend, Stephanie Thirkill, and has shared a series of loved-up snaps on social media of the pair.

Helen and Richie tied the knot in 2013, and they went on to welcome three children together – Ernie, seven, Louise, five, and baby daughter Elsie Kate.

In May, rumours began circulating that Helen could be gearing up to take part in this year's Strictly, with sources claiming she has been at the top of producers' list for a number of years after previously showing off her dance skills.

The star appeared on the Strictly festive special back in 2012 alongside Artem Chigvintsev, where her fancy footwork and graceful moves wowed the judges and audience alike.

Widely regarded by fans as one of the best jive performances to ever feature on the show in all 19 series so far, many viewers at home have been keen to see the star return for a full series.

According toThe Sun, a source attached to the show said earlier this year: “Helen has been on the Strictly wishlist since she did the Christmas special but the timing has never been quite right for her to sign up.

“She relocated to France in 2015 for three years while Richie was playing there and has also taken time out for her three pregnancies.

"There was also the suggestion that Richie wasn’t sure about her taking part. But this year, the bosses feel the situation might be different.”

Reports of Helen's new venture comes after a number of celebrities have been confirmed for Strictly over recent days. So far, this year's line-up is set to feature Matt Goss, Tyler West, Kaye Adams, Kym Marsh, Will Mellor, Ellie Taylor, Ellie Simmonds, Jayde Adams and Richie Anderson, with more names to be announced.
