Dancing On Ice's Ekin-Su to play a nun after Ofcom complaints

Dancing On Ice’s Ekin-Su to play a NUN in Sound Of Music routine as she says she has ‘no regrets’ about racy Britney costume after 112 Ofcom complaints

She made her Dancing On Ice debut in a racy sheer sparkly leotard for a Britney inspired routine dubbed ‘the sexiest ever’.

But Ekin-Su Culculoglu’s skate this coming Sunday will take a wholly different approach as she will transform into nun Sister Maria for a Sound Of Music themed skate.

Insisting she has ‘no regrets’ over her Britney costume, Ekin-Su, 28, says she is ready to get into channel her inner Julie Andrews as Maria von Trapp.

World’s apart: Ekin-Su made her Dancing On Ice debut in a racy leotard for a Britney inspired routine – but her skate this coming Sunday will take a wholly different approach

Reflecting on the 112 Ofcom complaints she received over her Toxic routine, the Love Island star said: ‘Whoever you see in the performance, whether I’m playing Britney Spears or Maria from The Sound of Music, I will be that person.’

‘With Britney, I was having fun with it, I couldn’t have performed it better in my opinion – I don’t regret it at all. I played her and now it’s over,’ she added to The Sun.

‘This time I’ll be playing a character from The Sound of Music and I’ll be how she is supposed to be – it’s a character. People forget I’m an actress. If I was asked to play Henry VIII on ice then I’d do it.’

The hills are alive! The Love Island star will transform into nun Sister Maria for a Sound Of Music themed skate (pictured Julie Andrews in the 1965 film classic)

‘I’m an actress’: Insisting she has ‘no regrets’ over her Britney costume, Ekin-Su says she is ready to get into character as Maria, in the role made famous by Julie Andrews

In her first performance Ekin-Su recreated her famous crawling scene from Love Island as she danced to Britney’s smash hit Toxic with partner Brendyn Hatfield.

But it didn’t go down so well with everyone, as the show received over 100 Ofcom complaints following the routine – and the Turkish beauty found herself with the lowest number of public votes.

She certainly brought some fire to the rink, stepping out in a nude mesh unitard with a dramatically embellished detail.

The actress crawled across the ice during the performance, an ode to the famous Love Island scene in which she crawled around the villa’s terrace to kiss fellow islander Jay Younger behind partner Davide Sanclimenti’s back.

Steamy: While the sultry routine also saw her lie on her back and be swept up into partner Brendyn’s arms, with a slew of animated facial expressions

The sultry routine also saw her lie on her back and be swept up into partner Brendyn’s arms, with a slew of animated facial expressions.

Ekin-Su and Brendyn were marked middle of the leaderboard by the judges, who gave a score of 21.5.

But while they agreed that the star certainly had sex appeal, they were hoping for a little more from the performance and she landed in the skate off.

Many viewers also took to social media to brand the routine ‘not appropriate’ for the family show, which airs before the watershed.

She was saved by the judges last Sunday after footballer John Fashanu became the first star to be eliminated from the ITV series.

Judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean were all in agreement and voted for Ekin-Su to stay in the competition as she included ‘more technical skating in her routine’.

Dancing On Ice starts at 6:30pm every Sunday on ITV1 and ITVX.
