Debbie McGee spoke candidly about her grief after losing her husband Paul Daniels in 2016. The former Strictly Come Dancing star spoke candidly about navigating life alone.
The 64-year-old said her magician husband was not particularly interested in handling money.
Debbie insisted that Paul was more interested in entertaining his fans so left his daily finances with his wife.
Speaking about their marriage on the Let’s Talk About Grief podcast with Coleen Nolan in November, the former magician’s assistant dished on their life before Paul’s death.
“When you lose your partner your security goes,” Debbie commented. “Every decision you made was with that person. Luckily, I dealt with all the finances, I paid all of the bills for the house and everything.”
She went on: “I wasn’t one of those women that you hear of that never touched a chequebook.
“I did everything because Paul wasn’t interested in money. He just wanted to make people laugh.
“He would say to me, ‘I want to buy so and so, have we got enough in the bank?'”
Debbie added: “In that respect, it made it easier because I had control of all of that.
“What I found difficult was just having that security.”
The former Strictly star went on to share that Paul had not planned his funeral and had always said he would be the first to pass.
She explained: “He planned life in his will as if he was going first. He talked to two of his sons about what his plan was so that they knew.
“So then I just thought, no matter how long he’s got we will just make the best of each day.”

Debbie was married to Paul for 28 years and was left devastated when she lost him after he died in 2016.
The two were a smash hit when they starred together on The Paul Daniels Magic Show, which ran on BBC One from 1979 to 1994 and boasted ratings of up to 17 million viewers.
Paul was previously married to his first wife Jacqueline Skipworth and had three sons together, but the pair divorced in 1975.
Meanwhile, Debbie revealed in October that she was auctioning off the late magician’s archive of illusions, costumes and props for £200,000 – six years after his death.
The ex-Strictly contestant admitted it was an emotional process.
The former magician’s assistant also shared there are certain heirlooms that will be passed down to her late husband’s family members – but she has not sorted it out yet.
Some of his belongings included vintage posters and other related items during his travels around the world, which date back to the 1800s.
Paul died in 2016 aged 77 at his Berkshire home, a month after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
