‘Determined’ Dancing On Ice star Michelle Heaton ‘doing whatever it takes to win’

There’s no denying Michelle Heaton is a fighter, and we can reveal she’s determined to skate her way to victory on Dancing On Ice – whatever it takes.

Having survived near- fatal alcohol and drug addiction, a source has told us she wants to prove how far she’s come and is pouring every spare hour into training.

“Michelle feels like she has something to prove and wants to show everyone how strong she is,” a source told us. “She’s putting her all into Dancing On Ice as she’s determined to win the show.

“She’s loving every minute of it and when she sets her mind to something she wants to see it through.”

The singer, 43, has been keeping fans updated on her progress with regular posts from the gym. Taking to Instagram, she shared

a reel practising a spin on the ice with partner Łukasz Rózycki, captioning it, “If at first you don’t succeed… then try & try again!”

And all that training doesn’t mean she’s let up on any of her other commitments. “Michelle is constantly in training and is fitting it around her busy life as a working mum. She loves being at home with the kids and that is still her priority. They’re really excited to watch their mum on the show,” added our source.

However, Michelle’s DOI journey hasn’t come without bumps in the road. In October she had “an epic fall” which left her winded and sore coccyx. But despite the cuts and bruises, training is what keeps her going.

“Michelle has been through a hard time but she’s 20 months sober now and feeling better than ever. Training gives her something to focus on,” our source continued.

The star revealed in January last year how her drinking had escalated so much by 2020 that she was drinking two bottles of wine and a bottle of vodka every day.

She entered The Priory in April 2021 after doctors told her she would die if she didn’t stop, emerging a month later sober and determined to stay that way.

Last year Michelle revealed she’d turned to booze when, at 35, she’d had a hysterectomy, which triggered early menopause.

And it was the gym that helped her manage the symptoms healthily.

“If like me, brain fog and tiredness is part of your story, it’s hard to get up and go,” she posted last April. “But I try. Do something, anything, a walk, jog, playing football with the kids. Anything is better than nothing.”

Another thing that’s keeping Michelle going is the constant support from her family.

And last week she took time out from training to celebrate Christmas with husband Hugh Hanley, their children, Faith, 10, and AJ, eight, and her mum, who was visiting from Newcastle.
