Ed Sheeran on same flight as drunk passenger in foul-mouthed air rage drama

Ed Sheeran was flying from Miami to London Heathrow when a passenger is said to have become disruptive.

According to reports, the Shape Of You singer, 32, was an hour into his journey from Miami to Heathrow when the foul-mouthed passenger demanded more alcohol and was reportedly furious when he was refused it.

A recording made by a fellow passenger, obtained by The Sun, alleged the drunken man shouted: “F*** you, you c***s. Take all of your annoying c*** faces out of my f*****g eye range!”

He was restrained by passengers, including an off-duty police officer, and strapped into a jump seat for the remainder of the flight.

Fellow fliers had been fearful that the flight might turn back to Miami Airport after just one hour in the air, but instead the culprit was arrested upon landing at London, when six police officers boarded the plane to meet him.

Multi-million selling performer Ed had been in the US to perform at a concert as part of his Mathematics tour, which was watched by celebrities including football ace Lionel Messi.

Later, he took selfies with fans at the departure gate, including 41-year-old Dan Haughian, who gave a quote to The Sun about the incident he witnessed on board.

“Everything just descended into chaos. The things this guy was saying and doing were just obscene,” he exclaimed.

“When they refused to give him any booze, he started making monkey noises and gestures at the cabin crew.

“The language coming out of his mouth was worse than you’d hear at a footie match. He was lucky nobody knocked him out, everyone was horrified. There were loads of kids watching.”

He added that he thought the man had already been drunk upon boarding, and that he erupted after staff who had not yet been round with the drinks trolley refused to serve him after just one hour on board.

The pilot was forced to “reassure” passengers after they heard that the plane might be diverted, and Dan says many people struggled to sleep for the remaining eight hours on board.

“A few people shouted ‘Good riddance’ when the guy was led away,” he recalled.

The Met Police confirmed: “At 1.59am on October 24 officers at Heathrow received a report that a passenger on a flight arriving from Miami had made racist comments towards other passengers and crew members.

“Officers met the aircraft and a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.

“He was taken to a west London police station and was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.”

British Airways told the publication: “Disruptive behaviour will never be tolerated on board our aircraft and we will always take the appropriate action.”

Meanwhile, Ed – who released his seventh album last month, Autumn Variations – is set to continue his tour and will perform at London’s Royal Albert Hall for two dates in November.
