Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu is switching it up this weekend for her Dancing on Ice musicals routine, after landing herself in hot water earlier in the month.
Decked in a short blonde wig and cream-coloured blouse, the 28 year old will channel The Sound of Music's Maria von Trapp, played by Julie Andrews in the classic 1965 movie – a role that saw her nominated in the Best Actress category at the Oscars – accompanied by the song Do-Re-Mi and skating partner Brendyn Hatfield out on the ice.
"Whoever you see in the performance, whether I'm playing Britney Spears or Maria from The Sound of Music, I will be that person," Ekin-Su told The Sun ahead of the show.
"With Britney, I was having fun with it, I couldn't have performed it better in my opinion. I don't regret it.
"This time I’ll be playing a character from The Sound of Music and I'll be how she is supposed to be. People forget I'm an actress. If I was asked to play Henry VIII on ice, I'd do it," she insisted.
Her comments comes on the back of some mild controversy, as Ekin-Su's skimpy transformation into Britney Spears for her Toxic performance caused quite a stir amongst fans of Dancing on Ice a fortnight ago.
"You know what? If you have 'em flaunt them. I mean if you've got a nice bum and you look sexy in a unitard, why not. Who cares?" she said in her defence.
Despite the dizzying effect she had on some, including co-presenter Holly Willoughby who claimed "that may have been the sexiest performance we've ever had on Dancing on Ice", the reality TV star didn't impress the judges enough to earn a high score.
Taking to social media, fans of the series questioned her commitment to the craft, with one tweeting: "It's a no from me Ekin Su she seems more interested in the cameras, zero skating on her own 2.5 from me."
"Ekin-su looked amazing but did she actually skate?" asked a second person, before a third went on to claim: "Not an outfit for a family show, shame you on Ekin Su".
"Oh come on. It's week one. Ekin Sue your not going to get more points for the lack of outfit!" and "I'm calling OFCOM about Ekin Su performance. Not the sexual content but the lack of skating," read a final pair of reactions.
Dancing on Ice continues today at 6.30pm on ITV.
