Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher pays heartbreaking tribute to late co-star

Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher paid a heartbreaking tribute to his late co-star Clive Hornby, after he received some sweet pictures of the pair when they were working together.

Kevin played Andy Sugden, the adopted son of Clive's character, Jack Sugden. Kevin first joined the Dales in 1996 and left his role of Andy in 2016 after an impressive 20 years.

Clive sadly passed away in 2008 and Andy took to social media to express some sweet words about the actor, who he labelled his “genuine guardian”.

He shared a throwback snap of a few members of the Emmerdale cast, including Clive, as he penned: “A lovely friend from Emmerdale sent me some lovely pictures the other day. If you'd have told me then what I would be doing now I probably wouldn't believe you.”

He continued: “As for Clive I really was in awe of him. He was a mentor, a friend and in many ways a genuine guardian. Not just of me but everyone at Emmerdale.

"He was immensely proud of his role and the show's stature and the connection it had to so many people. My character wanted to be just like him when he grew up and I guess a little bit of me did too", Kevin said.

One of his followers sweetly commented: “Clive would have been so proud of you”, while another said: “Gosh………that got me a bit emotional. He seemed like a lovely, genuine guy and I'm sure he is so proud of everything you have achieved.”

“Wonderful words @kelvin_fletcher how proud Clive would be of you; all you have achieved and are still achieving, a beautiful wife and family and a successful farm and career. Best years of Emmerdale too”, a third added.

Since leaving Emmerdale in 2016, Kelvin has had a successful career as he won Strictly Come Dancing in 2019 and landed his own BBC farming series, Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure.

Kevin and his family have a new TV series coming out on ITV this autumn called Fletcher's Farm Family. The documentary-style series is set at Kelvin’s farm in the Peak District and will follow him and his family as they navigate living on a farm and learning new tricks.

The star spent many years playing a farmer on Emmerdale, and now he is putting those skills into action in real life.

Kelvin shares daughter Marnie, six, and son Milo, four, with his wife Liz, along with his twin sons Maximus and Mateusz, whom they welcomed in 2022.
