Euphoria actor Angus Cloud’s death at 25 ‘not intentional’ says mother

The mother of the late Euphoria star, Angus Cloud, has shut down speculation that his death was ‘intentional.’ Last week, the 25-year-old, who found fame playing the lovable drug dealer Fezco 'Fez' O'Neill in the hit HBO series, tragically passed away at his family home, with the local police department pronouncing him dead at the scene.

Confirming his death at the time, his family released a statement to TMZ saying that Angus had “intensely struggled” with the recent loss of his father. And now, in a Facebook post shared over the weekend, Angus Cloud’s mum, Lisa, has claimed that while her son may have died from an ‘accidental overdose,’ he ‘did not intend to die.’

Thanking her friends and family for their support during this ‘shattered time,’ Lisa said that Angus was in ‘deep grief’ about his father’s ‘untimely death from Mesothelioma,’ but despite this, his last day was a “joyful one.” Describing the day before he died, she said: “He was reorganizing his room and placing items around the house with intent to stay a while in the home he loved.

“He spoke of his intent to help provide for his sisters at college and also help his mom emotionally and financially.” The devastated mother continued: “He did not intend to end his life. When we hugged goodnight we said how much we loved each other, and he said he would see me in the morning.

“I don’t know if or what he may have put in his body after that. I only know that he put his head on the desk where he was working on art projects, fell asleep, and didn’t wake up. We may find out that he overdosed accidentally and tragically, but it’s abundantly clear that he did not intend to check out of this world.”

Lisa also praised her tragic son for the role he played in Euphoria, saying: “His struggles were real. “He gave and received so much love and support to and from his tribe. His work in Euphoria became a lightning rod for his generation and opened up a conversation about compassion, loyalty, acceptance, and love.”

The mother of the actor who starred opposite Zendaya's Ruby 'Rue' Bennett also explained that her son has previously survived a head injury. “His head injury 10 years ago miraculously didn’t result in death as it almost always does. He was given 10 bonus years and filled them with creativity and love,” she wrote.

“Social media posts have suggested his death was intentional. I want you to know that is not the case,” she concluded. "To honor his memory, please make random acts of kindness part of your daily life. Bless your hearts.”

Oakland Police Department (OPD) is currently investigating the cause of his death that occurred on 31 July. In a statement, they said: ”Just after 11:30 AM, in the 200 block of Euclid Avenue.

“The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of death is unknown. There's no additional information being released at this time. This is an active death investigation."
