Love Island's Luca Bish has finally asked Gemma Owen to be his girlfriend, and he certainly got the romantic memo as he went all out with a set up that included roses, candles, pool balloons, a cellist and a very pricey gift.
Luca, 23, posted a professional video to his Instagram of the special evening, which showed the set up and a thrilled Gemma's reaction to the very romantic gesture – however, it's had baffled fans who have compared it to a proposal.
One person tweeted: "but why is luca treating asking gemma to be his girlfriend like its a proposal? 'soon' what, are u getting a ring? is that what ur waiting for? tf".
Another wrote: "Luca asking Gemma to be his girlfriend…. But it looks like a proposal, there’s Cartier and a videographer…"
A third person tweeted: "This looks like a proposal," whilst a fourth said: "What's the actual proposal gonna look like? Sheesh!"
Former fishmonger is clearly doing well for himself since leaving the Love Island villa as a runner up with his beau Gemma – who is the daughter of multimillionaire former footballer, Michael Owen.
If the over-the-top romantic setting to ask Gemma to be his girlfriend wasn't enough, he also gifted her a gold Cartier bracelet which cost between £3k to £10k, depending on the specifications.
Gemma looked thrilled as she opened the gift and she looked overcome with emotion as she looked down and grabbed Luca around the neck as he kissed her and they stood up.
Another clip showed the pair beaming at each other as Luca fastened the bracelet around his new girlfriend's wrist.
The pair becoming official had been a long time coming since they got together in the early days of this year's series of Love Island, which started at the beginning of June.
Gemma had insisted that they wait until Luca had met her family, including her famous dad, ex-footballer Michael Owen.
Luca did indeed meet the family a few weeks after he and Gemma left the Love Island villa, however, it was still weeks until he asked her to be his girlfriend.
During an appearance on Capital Radio on 16 August, Gemma said: "I mean I know I said in the villa let's wait till we get out, want you to meet the family, let's not rush it, but now I'm like, okay…"
Some of Gemma and Luca's old Love Island mates were quick to comment on the pair's Instagram posts about their new relationship status, with Love Island 2022 winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, 28, commenting: "Luca did well congratulations".
Andrew Le Page, who is dating Tasha Ghouri, also commented on Luca's post with: "About time".
