The Only Way Is Essex star Ferne McCann has taken to Instagram to share how tough she’s finding lack of sleep as a new mum.

The 32-year-old posted a tongue-in-cheek ‘Instagram v reality’ post with a shot of her and daughter Sunday, 5, standing together looking the picture of health and happiness, followed by the ‘real life’ pic of her looking tired while nursing new baby Finty.

In the caption, she wrote: “Insta VS reality……& as much as I hate that saying! Honestly, I couldn’t think of anything else to say where I have had like 2 minutes of sleep.

“I am having great moments & I am having the tough moments – where the night feeds feel lonely and long,” she wrote.

She used the post as an opportunity to support and encourage other new mothers: “So this is a shout-out to all the tired mamma’s who are getting the bare minimum of sleep. To the mamma’s who are questioning if their baby has had enough milk. To the mamma’s who are working on their babies latch. To the mamma’s who are constantly winding their babies. It feels like a constant guessing game but ultimate your baby needs you.

“You are their human,” she shared.

“So through those long nights where I have most definitely at times wanted to throw in the towel with breastfeeding….all I can do is hug, smell & snuggle Finty so she feels safe. It’s for such a short period & she needs me. Mother’s are soldiers in my eyes.”

Other than the lack of sleep, the TV personality is loving life as a new mum.

“We’re all just so happy,” the 32-year-old beamed in an exclusive interview with OK!. “She’s such a chilled-out girl,” she says.

How did she come up with such a unique name for new baby, Finty? “It was on my name list when I gave birth to Sunday,” she explains. “I don’t know where I got it from, but when I typed it in [on Google] I saw Judi Dench’s daughter’s nickname is Finty. I’ve always loved it and never heard it anywhere else before.

“I just feel so connected to the name – she came out and she was just Finty. I think she sounds like a character out of Bridgerton.”

Fans have been congratulating the couple on social media, with some saying how much they love Finty’s name: “The name means Pure. Cannot believe in 2023 people still think its acceptable to leave such nasty comments. A lovely name and a beautiful new addition to a family. Congratulations guys!”
